W-409 Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Thanx, Stephen ! Not too Fancy update, but just wanted to let you know, that body is now ready for paint. I'm waiting now for the paint, I should get it tomorrow, so hopefully it'll be in Blue soon. Then I must paint the white top, of course. I have to move on to the interior too.
rmvw guy Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 This was my first Hudson, just thought I would post it here even though it was "under glass". Nice roundup of Hudsons here!
Chuck Most Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Thanx, Stephen ! Not too Fancy update, but just wanted to let you know, that body is now ready for paint. I'm waiting now for the paint, I should get it tomorrow, so hopefully it'll be in Blue soon. Then I must paint the white top, of course. I have to move on to the interior too. Actually, you might want to paint the white first, then the blue. That'll make it a bit easier.
W-409 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Yep, it might be easier like that. But I'll do the blue first, some how it's just my style and I'm used to it. For Example I painted red first on this '55 Chevy (1/32 Scale though) and then the white. Don't know why I do it this way but it works okay, though.
W-409 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 There's nothing like Fresh paint job ! I started by taping the top, it will be painted white later on. And here's the body with some blue on it, looks pretty good. In the picture, the paint is wet and it is not going to be that glossy when it's dry, but clearcoat and polishing will help.
cobraman Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 I like that shade of blue. What did you shoot that car with ?
W-409 Posted June 29, 2012 Posted June 29, 2012 Thanks, Ray! The paint is made by Maston, and color code is 803. I don't know if you have Maston paints in USA, but here in Finland they are pretty easy to get, and they work well, too.
Chuck Most Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Made up a finned cylinder head for the '52 custom I'm working on now, and wired the ignition.
W-409 Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 The Top of My Hornet is painted White. It turned out pretty good, but when I took masking tapes off, I saw that there had been little "Leak" and now I need to do little fixing with blue paint. Luckily that white paint will be covered mostly with BMF, only little blue paint touch is needed. I will clearcoat the body soon.
Olskoolrodder Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 I hate when that happens, but yeah, most of it will be covered. Looks great,Brother, loving the colors together
W-409 Posted August 13, 2012 Posted August 13, 2012 Thanx, Stephen. Color combo fits perfectly to this car, that's why I had to keep it, even if the boxart has same color scheme on it. Usually I paint my models with different color than the box art. Anyway, here is the body clearcoated. It turned out pretty good. Now I have to fix those little paint leaks, I didn't want to do it before clearcoat, because I wasn't sure if the clear would react with Blue Enamel Paint... So, it can be done after clear, too. Then polishing and BMF, this should be Done Soon!
Chuck Most Posted August 20, 2012 Posted August 20, 2012 Minor report... I now have not one, but TWO '52 convertibles in my possession. Hope to have some more substantial updates soon.
Dr. Cranky Posted August 21, 2012 Author Posted August 21, 2012 Some beautiful vehicles being worked on here. Nice eye candy.
Chuck Most Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 And now for something the complete opposite of shiny and pretty. Well, that's what it'll be eventually...
W-409 Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Thanks guys! It's shiny, but not so smooth-after polishing it will be beautiful. Anyway I'm having bit hurries, and it will take some time to get back on the Hudson, maybe a week or so. Chuck, nice job on the Convertible! Will watch this very closely.
Chuck Most Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Took out my agresssions and shot at it last night. Also managed to get the hood, bumpers, and grille painted.
Foxer Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 It's probably only what a Hudson really deserves, Chuck. I'll stand beside ya when others get fired up and in a rage.
Chuck Most Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Body's pretty well dialed in at this point- not I've got to trash the inside.
