Sam Cates Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 (edited) Finished it up (for now) Took a lot of parts box use and abuse, lots of trial and error in the weathering department but I think it looks good enough to collect more dirt and dust on the shelf. Mainly the parts (Chassis, side panels, roof) came from a '31 Woody. Modified a resin copy of the Bad Medicine skeleton to look like Vic, scratched the scythe. Hope you guys like it, comments welcome! Edited November 1, 2011 by Sam Cates
Chuck Most Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Love it! And don't keep it in a closed display case or cabinet- dust will only add to the character of a build like this (in moderation, of course).
jeffs396 Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Sinister! Deadly! Very cool! Great build, and a perfect time of year for it...
LAone Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 this is one wicked build bro. digging the details, they're just awesome
Dr. Cranky Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Just in time for Halloween. You are suffering from the old Rust-o-licism or Chuck-i-tis as I like to call it. I keep coming back to eye it some more. A wicked, fun build. When you build something like this, EYEGORE tells me, you add about five years to your life!
Ryan S. Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Yup, wicked cool! I love the simplicity of the interior but the little details make it pop. The weathering looks great!
peter31a Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Dude! That is totally grody! And I mean that in the nicest possible way. Great work!
Jon Cole Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Lookin' snarky! The tattered fabric is a great touch.
brett Posted October 8, 2011 Posted October 8, 2011 Beyond cool, well thought out and awesomely executed. Well done
Terry Sumner Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Love the play on words...Rot Rod as opposed to Rat Rod. It sure fits!
Sam Cates Posted October 9, 2011 Author Posted October 9, 2011 Thanks guys for all the complements, I am working on a small diorama scene for it right now, hope to have it done in the next few days. I am also going to add a few little things to the wagon, not sure what to do for a tail light yet, but I'll figure it out.
Sam Cates Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 ...and the finishing touch. Still working on the back drop, hope to have it done next weekend.
Sam Cates Posted November 1, 2011 Author Posted November 1, 2011 (edited) So, I didn't get it done quite as soon as I wanted to but it's done (again, for now). I am sure I will find something else that it needs but I think it looks pretty god for now. I was going to add some headstones but decided not to because I will be using the dio for a few other builds as well. ...and the best part is, it cost me a whopping $0 to build it! snagged some junk from the brush pile in the back yard, sliced up an old rubbermaid tub, a few coats of black paint and a couple handfuls of dirt, and voilĂ ! As always, comments and complaints are welcome! Edited November 1, 2011 by Sam Cates
Dr. Cranky Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 FANTASTIC, and just in time for Halloween too! Great. Well, Halloween was yesterday, but you know what I mean.
David G. Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Litterally the "Rat Rod From Hell" It's just too cool for words, and the dio is perfect. David G.
Draggon Posted November 1, 2011 Posted November 1, 2011 Man, when you put it in the dio it looks absolutely frightfull!
