Mr. Moparman Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Here is my new project, a 1968 Plymouth Roadrunner. I will be using mrmike's RR topic for reference. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=42010&hl=&fromsearch=1 I will be correcting the taillights and adding the performance hood treatment My paint is Tamiya Metallic Green Partial assembly of the engine has begun. Enjoy!
george 53 Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 I once owned a 440 SuperBee that was close to that color. I think it was F-5 light green. NICE color!
W-409 Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 This is going to be sweet. I'm really interested about this project, but I'd like to see bit better pictures, if possible. Those aren't the worst ones, I've seen but bit blurry and out of focus. If you're using a digital camera, try using super macro setting (a picture of flower in some button). It's easy to take closeup pictures with it, I take every picture with it, when photographing model cars. And I'm trying to help, it's not an personal attack or something like that, project sounds and looks interesting so far.
Dr. Cranky Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 This looks like a wonderful project in the making. Keep it going.
Skydime Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 My paint is Tamiya Metallic Green Partial assembly of the engine has begun.
Skydime Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Partial assembly of the engine has begun. Is it just me, or is that engine suspended in mid air?!
Mr. Moparman Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 Is it just me, or is that engine suspended in mid air?! No, It is on one of the clips that is on my LED Hands Free Maginfier tool that I won in a raffle yesterday.
Skydime Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Oh lol I couldnt tell there. I saw the assembly but, it didn't look like it was near the engine. Anyway, can't wait to see more progress.
Sport Suburban Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 I thought it was a good picture of a flying motor!!
Mr. Moparman Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 Engine assembly is close to being done, while interior assembly is beginning. The 95% Finished engine The bench seat has its headrests
Diesel Gypsy Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 looks very nice so far. Nice colour choice too.
mrmike Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Well Brandon, I suppose I should feel honored that you are using my WIP for reference for your Roadrunner. I will watching you build and good luck! BTW, are you going to correct the rear wheel openings since they are the wrong shape?
Mr. Moparman Posted October 10, 2011 Author Posted October 10, 2011 mrmike, No. I do not have a accurate body to go by. I will just have to make do with the kits mis-shaped fenderwells.
Mr. Moparman Posted October 12, 2011 Author Posted October 12, 2011 I finished the engine. As a bit of a personal touch, I painter the aircleaner the color of the car. I finished the interior. I added the tach on the dash and made seatbelts from medical tape. Enjoy!
W-409 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Looking really good, and pictures are sharp now. That engine looks very good to me, detailing is nice. Interior looks good too, maybe those belt buckles would look bit better if they are aluminium for example. It's easy to do, but looks much better. Anyway, great job with it so far, keep it going.
Diesel Gypsy Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Very nice dash & door cards, an area I always struggle with.
Mr. Moparman Posted October 18, 2011 Author Posted October 18, 2011 Ok, time for a little update. As mrmike did, I will replace the kits tailights with a set from Missing Link Resins. I will put my order in tommorow afternoon. The chassis is on four wheels. I have a bit of a question. The kits wheels did not go together right and I got fingerprints all over the rims. Is there anyway I can remove them? The body has been painted and detailed and ius awaiting clearcoat. The hood with the performance hood treatment. Enjoy!
Haubenschild Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 did you tape the hood and spray it flat black?
Haubenschild Posted October 18, 2011 Posted October 18, 2011 Looks good , can wait to se the finished product!
martinfan5 Posted October 19, 2011 Posted October 19, 2011 Looking good so far, I have this kit and the GTX , and I have no idea what I am doing with them at yet.
Mr. Moparman Posted October 29, 2011 Author Posted October 29, 2011 Hello here is a small update to let you guys know I havent forgot this project. I put it aside to finish my P-51B/C Mustang and since now that project is coming to a close, I dug the Roadrunner out of the cobwebs and put it back on the bench. I will be sending off the order for the taillights Monday. Here is how it sits right now. The tail panel decal I made for the car, Enjoy!
