fumi Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I was looking at Rainbow Ten's All Japan Model Hobby Show report on Facebook, and noticed Fujimi has a reference model of a Pantera. Maybe we should start writing them for its release?
jeffs396 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Sure hope they do...they must be watching what some of the old kits are going for on eBay!
RickRollerLT1 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Looks like a direct reissue of the Testors box release from the late-80s. I can only imagne the price of the reissue being almost the cost of what the older issues go for
fumi Posted October 14, 2011 Author Posted October 14, 2011 It doesn't look like the wide fender Gunze/Testors Pantera at all. If anything it looks like the resin kit Fujimi commissioned MFH to make a few years ago. I really hope they would release it in plastic this time. The Marui kit is workable but is hard to find, and the Gunze/Arii/Imai kits would take a lot of work for them to look right.
sjordan2 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Based on this spy video, looks like DeTomaso is prepping a new Pantera. http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1059476_de-tomaso-pantera-prototype-spotted-outside-factory-video
bigphoto Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 (edited) Based on this spy video, looks like DeTomaso is prepping a new Pantera. http://www.motorauth...e-factory-video Pretty decent looking. Too bad in my opinion about the round tailights an proposed GM engine though! I guess I am a traditionalist Sorry for the off topic about 1:1. It would be nice to have an all new tooling kit preferably with engine! Edited October 14, 2011 by bigphoto
Jeff Johnston Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 yes Silvester you are correct in that the Mauri kit is a tough one to get, and expensive when you do. I built one and I also agree its workable...sure would like to see a stock plastic kit...I'l be good for several for sure.
RickRollerLT1 Posted November 4, 2011 Posted November 4, 2011 Oh! I thought it was the testors/gunze kit that is being released, but this appears to be a newer tool. Will it be a curbside, or full detail?
Roncla Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 HobbyLink Japan are now listing the Pantera as being released in January. http://www.hlj.com/product/fuj12553
Jeff Johnston Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I wonder if its plastic or the same resin kit they released some time ago. Either Way I am VERY excited about this. None of the Revell releases interested me this year except maybe, sorta-kinda, the 62 Corvette. This totally makes up for it.

Rob Hall Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Nice...looking forward to that. I built an Imai Pantera kit about 25 years ago...it had the big flared fenders and wings. Nice to see a normal one kitted.
fumi Posted November 6, 2011 Author Posted November 6, 2011 Hey Jeff, that was a nice build! I'm very excited about the Fujimi Pantera indeed. If it is anything like their Ferrari kits then it wouldn't be too difficult to slip an engine into it. At 3,000 yen it's not cheap, but far better than the $60 up the various old Pantera kits are fetching in eBay.
ffreak Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Sorta related, just run across this. http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2011/11/06/hemmings-find-of-the-day-1972-detomaso-pantera/
bigphoto Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 3,040 Yen, anyone know the conversion? About $39.00 USD according HLJ site.
