Only one body in a case has the metal flake and there is no way to tell. It is part of a program by Round2.

I was thinking it would be similar to how Round2 did the '68 Shelby GT500 kit a year or so ago, where the box was labelled with the body's color. Not so with the Manx?

So it looks like this Ecto-1 is the AMT glue kit, not the Polar Lights snap kit?

I've got room for a few more either way, but I'm hoping it is the glue kit, I already have 4 or 5 of the Polar Lights version.

The problem with Molded Metalflake is doing it to scale and eliminating "Swirl " marks in the hopper as it's being injected into a mold . Anyone with a M P C 1967 Dodge Monaco might want to share a picture of that body with the audience .

Then too, lets go back to da Dark Ages of Revell's Goofy Metal Flake cars in 1962 where in , models like the Valiant and the Chrysler were molded in Metal Flake . Wow , dealers were soon "Stuck " with these kits as paint bled , the Flake was too large and overall, showed details of the underside too.......... Ed Shaver

Very odd about the box art for the '10' Camaro convertible..there was no '10 Camaro convertible--it came out for '11, and the photos are of the European-spec 1:1 '11--note the larger mirrors and wide number plates...

Cant wait for the vans to come out, the gremlin box looks just like the one i have in my closet waiting to be built.

It's called "Katch the Kat". One Manx kit per case will have a red body. In addition, Manx kits bought from Round2's online store will be purple.

They will also be doing this with the Drag-u-la, only with a gold body. They're the only two kits announced as part of this promotion so far.

I can always use another '51 Chevy and the Malibu wagon. Hopefully, it won't be as badly warped as the Racing Chumps one I have- almost unbuildable. I actually will probably be getting a resin body to put on it so I can at least use most of the kit.

The Gremlin is just too cool not to have and I might even grab a Meyer's Manx just for something different.

It is the glue version. Like the Batmobile it may have parts and decals for both versions. Still up in the air though. B)

Thanks, I'll definately be picking up a couple then, maybe even build one as an Ecto-1. :D

Do want a Manx, but for once I don't care for the unique colored plastic. It will get painted.

Monkie Mobile would be nice to have again if they fix the horrible flash and warpage the 2000 issue had (Will this one have the figures?)

AMT Amtronic....

That kit is horrendous!! Nothing fit, flash everywere, and most of the kit was a PITA to put together!! Unless they fix the fitment issues it has, I plan to avoid it like the plegue!

I thought the Manx was canceled? Or was that the VW Bugaboo drag car?

All the others would be nice to have again... Cept the 66 'Stang. Why is that getting reissued? Theres allready a whole smackload of the previous issues still out there fresh in the package... for less than a $1.00. Theres tons of other subjects that are more worthy in getting rereleased, and could sell far more units than that POS!

re the manx: wow this "katch the kat" promotion where one manx body per case will be molded in red flake plastic vs the white for the rest sounds a lot like that one contest where the first prize was a week in Cleveland and the second prize was TWO weeks in Cleveland!

When Tom Lowe was at Polar Lights, they did a similar thing, but they had a hole in the bottom of the box so you could see inside. But this I don't get because they're aiming it towards collectors, but doesn't cutting the wrap off and opening the box destroy the collectors' value?

So far I think they've been making good decisions at Round 2, but this one I don't get... I think the Manx and the Drag-u-la will do well enough on their own without this gimmick, so maybe they're just spitballing it...

Because they can? Of course it is completely unneccessary, but why not?

I'm glad I'm not the only one, I don't get the special plastic either. If they think it might help raise sales to collectors I don't see any real downside to it (unless that plastic is more difficult to work with). They must feel the collector market is fairly large since they keep offering the deluxe kit in tins.

Well, I for one am very excited.

..... BIG THANKS go out to everyone ROUND 2 (Tom Lowe, you ARE THE MAN), REVELL, MOEBIUS, LINDBERG, HAWK, IMC! .....

The AMT Custom Vans bring back some great memories, and they're releasing three of them, the Vantasy Chevy van (is this the 'Dirty Donny' Custom Chevy van??.....slated for March '12 - pics seen elsewhere on the net.....reminds me of the yellow 'Sunchaser' from years ago), the Vantom Ford van, . The Gremlin, MPC 1/16 Chargers, wow! I'm 13 years old again! Who said we can't revisit our youth?? The old Johan survivors look great in new IMC duds........can't wait to build the '75 Olds Cutlass. Way to go guys.

Also, how could some of you guys say things like, "they're not getting any of MY money". You guys sure know how to shoot yourselves in the foot. Thankfully, the manufacturers are thinking more of US diehard/lifelong builders and releasing new products in an age where it would be cheaper to listen to the naysayers like you guys, and go a different route.

Bring on the kits!!,

Looking forward to the vans...I built the AMT 'Kandy Van' in the late '70s as a kid and the A-Team reissue. AMT had announced the 'Nirvana' van as a reissue for this year, don't know if that's going to happen in addition to the Dirty Donny Vantasy van or only the Vantasy version (same basic kit w/ different graphics). Never had the AMT Ford van. I built the '75 Cutlass snap kit in the '80s, can definitely use another. And the Revell van and '77 GMC pickup are welcome, never had those kits.

Somebody slap me if I'm confused, but the forthcoming Tommy Grove and Candies & Hughes Funny Cars are scheduled out next year from Polar Lights. Why no mention of them ?? I see them on different E- hobby sites with varying release dates.

Anybody know what's up with that ??

I'm not going to ask what nature the great memories you have in association with those vans might be... :)

We were looking at America's vans with envy in those days and then crawled into the backs of our 2CV or Renault 4 vans.

I looked at the list and five of the 1/25 scale car kits are reissues from about a decade ago:

Monkeemobile - 2000

AMTronic - 2000

Barnabas Vampire Van - 2002

Opel GT (supposed to be re-issued) - 2002

'66 Mustang - 2003(?)

I guess Round2 isn't digging as deeply into the vault as we think. Now don't get me wrong, they are doing a great job repairing and spending money on improving older tooling and adding extras to most of the re-issued kits, but five out of fifteen (I'm being generous) kits are essentially repeats of kits RC2/Ertl pumped out only ten years ago. :( I guess we should just be thankful the Moonscope, Ice Cream Cycle, and Barris T Buggy aren't on the list. :D

I guess it's all about original box art this time around. Last time out, all those kits came in packaging void of any beauty, which is called 'modern', and were clearly aimed at the builders. Now they seem to come in the boxes some of us love to decorate the walls with. I think round2 is doing the right thing to target the builders' market with some of their releases and the collectors' market with others.
