Psychographic Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 (edited) OK a little rundown of what's happened so far. I started at the back, the rear panel was cut out completely. Then the rear "bullets" were cut off and saved. The rear quarters were cut starting under the side windows following the base of the V in the roof to the where the bullets were and discarded. The sides were brought in the meet the v shape of the roof and needed to be extended to reach the point in the back. The bullets and the rear wheelwells were filled. The doors got some slices in them to help bend the quarters into place. Now it's time to tackle the front. Starting at the center of the back window, to the front of the body. I removed about 1.5" at the front, 0 at the back. I had to make a slice along the front and rear winshields and add a filler to the front and remove some from the back to get the contour of them back to what they should be. the front wheelwels are also filled. I removed the center of the nose to cure the same thing with the windshield, it will go back in later. Same pic as before. And this one only gets one engine. Now where did I leave that Lola T-8800 at? Oh yeah, there it is, let's start grafting this baby together. The top has an angle chop, the back of the roof is stock height. You can see the triangle shaped filler in the front of the roof that was needed to get the opening back into shape and the filler in the back that was needed to fill in for the chop.. The rear bullets have been reattached also. At this point the side pods are in their initial fitting. I don't mind saying, fitting and mating the Indycar to the Vette, was a trial in patience and a whole lotta work. Edited October 25, 2011 by Psychographic

Starting on the interior. The undertray of the Lola needed to be widened quite a bit. I also modified the front suspension to make steerable front wheels. Edited October 26, 2011 by Psychographic

I also opened the vents at the bottom, but decided I would like it better without them so they got filled back in completely. I also thought the front looked too nice, so I figured I'd make a mess of it. And what it looks like with a little sanding. I guess if we have headlights, taillights would be appropriate. The bezels and lenses are stock 65 Vette pieces. If the bottom looks crooked to you, that's because it is. I really need to start measuring things rather than by eye. This will be fixed. I've been studying and collecting progressive concept car art for a year trying figure out how to translate them into something I can model. I was getting the hunch the answer laid in factoring in an open wheel racer, I just couldn't figure out how. I don't have all the answers yet but yours breaks a creative block.
