Bigdad Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I just got my Hudson yesterday I'm going to do a rusted out version with the bumpers and everything inside of the car. I think I will just have the engine block with the hood setting on the roof or something. The car will be setting on three wheels and a concrete block (if I can find some in 1/25 scale) next to an old shed. Here is a picture of the look I'm going for, I will post pictures as I go along.
Chuck Most Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 Sweeeeeeeeeeeet. Another idea- cut open the trunk and stuff some of the spare engine parts in back.
Olskoolrodder Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 (edited) That's good! Can't wait to see this one going Edited November 9, 2011 by Olskoolrodder
mr moto Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 http://www.seltd.net/34101cp.html Scale Equipment Ltd. has those concrete blocks for you.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 9, 2011 Posted November 9, 2011 I love it, for a minute I thought it was a model!
Bigdad Posted November 10, 2011 Author Posted November 10, 2011 I found some great reference pictures today I really like the one of the rear end and the missing drivers side door. I think that is what I'm going to do with mine.
Chuck Most Posted November 11, 2011 Posted November 11, 2011 There are a few customs in here, but I did go out of my way to dig up some crusty ones as well. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48429

Bigdad Posted November 12, 2011 Author Posted November 12, 2011 I have a question whats a good way to make flat tires?
mikemodeler Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 I have a question whats a good way to make flat tires? Let the air out! Ha Ha Ha Okay, some have warmed up the tires and squished them down, others have sanded or filed them down. I don't have a proven method yet but I am sure someone here has. Dr. Cranky, what is your suggestion, oh wise one of the rust?
Greg Pugh Posted November 12, 2011 Posted November 12, 2011 You might want to incorporate a little of both. The melting will at least simulate the flattened sidewall spreading out. But you want to be careful and not take it too far. It can look a little funny if not done properly.
Bigdad Posted November 14, 2011 Author Posted November 14, 2011 I have a few more reference pics one is of the engine I think that I will use for mine. I like the front tire hanging off of the rim too.
Greg Myers Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 kinda sad seeing all these forlorn old cars.
Bigdad Posted April 17, 2012 Author Posted April 17, 2012 Hi guys I'm finally back, I moved the first of January and just got things situated so that I can start modeling again. I had no place to work that was heated back during the winter but the weather is better here in Indiana now so I can get started on my rusty Hornet again. I will be keeping you all posted on how this build goes.
ronr Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Here`s some shots that may be of use: here is a link to the rest of them http://s17.photobucket.com/albums/b68/RonR1025/RUSTY%20GOLD/

I don't have a proven method yet but I am sure someone here has. Dr. Cranky, what is your suggestion, oh wise one of the rust? I simulated a flat tire (a long time ago) by placing a piece of tin foil in a frying pan, and press straight down. Try it on a scrap tire first. Can't remember if I used a non-stick spray on the foil.
rmvw guy Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Welcome back Roger hope you get this going soon. Can't wait to see it! If it's anything like your other creations it will be a masterpiece.
nascarfan Posted April 18, 2012 Posted April 18, 2012 Those Hudsons look very cool, I might pick one up.
