That's a beautiful build. Love all the detail on it. Also love that decal you applied. Where did you get the decal from?

thanx

I have no idea where the decals came from

I save decals from kits, etc. storing them in an old "Jack Daniels" tin box

sorry I couldn't help you

Well, my old friend...maybe if what came in the old "Jack Daniels" tin box wasn't empty you'd be able to remember where the decal came from!! :) :)

Got any more full tins?

You need a Model A body and a V-8 for that!

Ken,

The car that Charlie Ryan built and owned and that he wrote the song about had a V12 Lincoln engine in it.

Neil, he sings in the song,"Had eight cylinders,an used 'em all" All this tme I thought Commander Cody an the Lost Planet Airmen wrote this song!:);)

George, yes I know what the song says, but Charlie Ryan built the car by mounting a Model A body on a 49 Lincoln chassis. He cut the chassis down 24 inches, kept the V12, and lengthened the hood to fit the longer engine. Charlie and his wife drove the car around the country on tour to support the hit record in 1957.

Charlie actually wrote the song in 1950, but didn't record it until 1955, and it became a hit in 1957. I think he had an earlier hot rod with a V8 Lincoln, and he may have had that car when he wrote the song. But the car he used to promote the song had a V12.

Thank You, Daddy-O!!! I did not know that. The picture is REALLY cool. You can see how he moved the radiator up to fit the motor. Or chopped the chassis enough to mount the body!!! How cool!!:D:);)
