crazyjim Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 What a day! Grass mowed; pine cone ginger cut down; 2 2lb meatloafs in the oven; and finished this coupe. I don't do race cars so I tried to make the Stone/Woods/Cook gas coupe into kind of a street freak by putting in a full interior (seats are my castings), an exhaust system, and a gas tank. It's finished in HOK lime gold over a gold base with the fender lips basecoated with silver. Those are Ma's Resin M/T Sportsman tires in the back.
Sam Cates Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Love it! Colors look great and the exhaust is spot on!
crazyjim Posted November 24, 2011 Author Posted November 24, 2011 Thanks, Sam. I think I should have painted the inside of the exhaust light yellow. Next time. Time to do the turkey. We cheated this year and bought thick sliced turkey from the deli. Cooking a whole bird doesn't make sense for just the 2 of us. Hope you have a great day/night. I'm outta here until tomorrow morning.
Haubenschild Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 That looks sweet!, i love the yellow headers and frame
Peter Lombardo Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Wow, that thing really pops!.....I doubt it would even need lights at night. Certainly an attention getter. I love the yellow exterior color it works really great on the car........My wife and I find that a Turkey Breast roasted in the oven is just right, we then have just the white meat leftover for sandwiches for a few days....but either, have a great Thanksgiving Jim.
Chuck Most Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Wow- those old drag coupes clean up pretty well.
Jantrix Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Wow, Jim, you've really got the painting down now and you're really started getting creative. Very nice.
Terror Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 That came out nice. I like the pipe work the most. The yellow is cool too.
Dave42 Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 Great looking build. I especially like what you did with the tail lights and the license plate. Later,
crazyjim Posted November 25, 2011 Author Posted November 25, 2011 Thank you, thank you. This was a fun build. I thought I'd turn the license plate recess just for kicks.

crazyjim Posted November 25, 2011 Author Posted November 25, 2011 Thanks guys. If Harry looks, he'll see that the alternator has a bracket and is not "floating". The belt was made from Tamiya masking tape doubled over and hit with a black marker.
fatkidd Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 this one is killer, jim. the paint looks smooth and SHINY!!! the interior is done well the engine looks good. all in all a wonderful job. thanks for sharing
crazyjim Posted November 25, 2011 Author Posted November 25, 2011 (edited) Thanks Fatkidd. Appreciate the paint comments from a master such as yourself. I'll never catch up to your level of painting, but I'm having fun trying to get there. Edited November 25, 2011 by crazyjim
Dr. Cranky Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 Oh man, I don' know how I missed this one, Jim. Great work. Love all the chassis details, etc . . . nice paint too. Now you've got me wanting to build another one of these 41 Willys, gasser style.
crazyjim Posted November 29, 2011 Author Posted November 29, 2011 Well get on it, Dr. Cranky. I've always loved the gas coupe look (big & littles and the front end way up) but I build only stuff that could be on the street. This build was inspired by a grey Studebaker Lark I saw at the Pumpkin Run. That big blower sticking out of the hood on a street car looked impressive - and sounded so cool.
Dr. Cranky Posted November 29, 2011 Posted November 29, 2011 I just got a couple of copies of the kit.
