Basically it's just an in-progress project you can still cruise on weekends. Maybe one of these days it will be a full-blown lead sled, but for now it's just a beater you can take to the car shows. Highlights include the Rambler V8, open trunk filled with all sorts of trash, and its general crusty demeanor.

Very cool.

I do have a suggestion. Instead of the toothpick how about using a piece the size of a 2x4 of balsa or bass wood age it and use it to hold up the trunk.

That's actually in the cards- didn't have one ready for the photo op, though. ;)

Hey Chuck, isn't that car more of a "Yellowjacket" than a Hornet now with that paint job???

According to wikipedia, a yellowjacket is a wasp, and a hornet is a wasp, but a hornet is not a yellowjacket.

Do we give Chuck a pass on this one? :P

nice weather job ! whats the trick to getting that realistic bumper weathering ?

About all I did on those was strip the factory chrome, prime them black, then hit them with a thin coat of Model Master German Silver, capped off with a dull clear.

Probably. But hey- my high school team was the Ithaca Yellowjackets, and as of yesterday, they're two-time state champs in football after the Ford Field game. B)

That's molded to the glass- all you have to do is paint it black! Same deal on the rear window, but that wasn't an issue here.

How many Willys models have you seen with the famous "clear" windshield gasket rubber?

Most people miss that detail.
