Chuck Most Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Basically it's just an in-progress project you can still cruise on weekends. Maybe one of these days it will be a full-blown lead sled, but for now it's just a beater you can take to the car shows. Highlights include the Rambler V8, open trunk filled with all sorts of trash, and its general crusty demeanor.
Greg Pugh Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Nice work with the weathering. Cool model.
Harry P. Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 That's cool! I love the junk in the trunk. Kim K. would be proud...
Dr. Cranky Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Great job on this one too, Chuck. Nice work, buddy.
crazyjim Posted November 26, 2011 Posted November 26, 2011 Beater for sure. Some people people will probably call it a rat machine. Nice work.
bobthehobbyguy Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Very cool. I do have a suggestion. Instead of the toothpick how about using a piece the size of a 2x4 of balsa or bass wood age it and use it to hold up the trunk. bobthehobbyguy

Olskoolrodder Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Looks completely like something I'd love to tool around in,Chuck,NICELY done,my friend! :D
Sixties Sam Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Nice beater! I like the stripes and the trunk full of "stuff". Looks very realistic. Sam
walt francis Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Chuck , you my man are MAD and I mean that is the best way ....Awesome !!!!!!!!
CorvairJim Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Hey Chuck, isn't that car more of a "Yellowjacket" than a Hornet now with that paint job???
Harry P. Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 Hey Chuck, isn't that car more of a "Yellowjacket" than a Hornet now with that paint job??? According to wikipedia, a yellowjacket is a wasp, and a hornet is a wasp, but a hornet is not a yellowjacket. Do we give Chuck a pass on this one?
scalenut Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 nice weather job ! whats the trick to getting that realistic bumper weathering ?
Chuck Most Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 nice weather job ! whats the trick to getting that realistic bumper weathering ? About all I did on those was strip the factory chrome, prime them black, then hit them with a thin coat of Model Master German Silver, capped off with a dull clear.
Chuck Most Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 Hey Chuck, isn't that car more of a "Yellowjacket" than a Hornet now with that paint job??? Probably. But hey- my high school team was the Ithaca Yellowjackets, and as of yesterday, they're two-time state champs in football after the Ford Field game.
Harry P. Posted November 27, 2011 Posted November 27, 2011 I like how you added the windshield glass gasket. Nice touch.
Chuck Most Posted November 27, 2011 Author Posted November 27, 2011 That's molded to the glass- all you have to do is paint it black! Same deal on the rear window, but that wasn't an issue here.

How many Willys models have you seen with the famous "clear" windshield gasket rubber? Most people miss that detail.
