Evil Appetite Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Something was bound to happen eventually...they're lucky no one got killed over this.
Jon Cole Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 Just saw this on cable news. Obviously doing this in an area that is populated. Maybe they should shoot out to the ocean, rather than inland.
LAone Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 heard it on the radio. thats nuts! must've had some good range to go over the hills. i see higher rates on their insurance.
Mike Kucaba Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 "i see higher rates on their insurance. " And maybe higher ratings for the show? :D
trogdor Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I'll preface this by saying I hate lawyers and frivolous lawsuits but I hope those people end up owning The Discovery Channel and living comfortably for the rest of their lives.

How about just paying to fix the damage? Worse things like that happen to a lot of people everyday. Had a child been maimed or something, I could see getting a lawsuit going, but as nobody was injured, what's the point? I like that show and I hope this doesn't shorten its lifespan.
Aaronw Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I used to work at Camp Parks, and at the county jail next door where the Mythbusters had this experiment go wrong. It is a large open area where both the military and police play with their toys, rifles, grenade launchers, bomb disposal etc. While lawyers will try to get millions I think they are going to have a had time showing any negligence. Unfortunately the public has been allowed to build homes right up the the boundry of an active military base.

By them not they have opened themselves up to a big lawsuit if the right law firm gets involved! You can bet the Discovery Channel is playing Let's Make A Deal to try and keep it out of court! (I'd say an easy Million)
FASTBACK340 Posted December 7, 2011 Posted December 7, 2011 I don't think a cat door in the (second story...) bedroom wall or the cannon ball wedged in the mini-van's dash is worth millions.... They'll pay damages and throw a little at the home owners. No one got hurt.... Not the first time something went wrong while filming for those guys. Just that now the popularity of the show throws it in the limelight. Hate to say it, but money makes everything OK. That is one of Discovery Channels more popular shows. Nothing is going to happen to it. Personally, I laughed my tail off when I read it this morning. I can picture the two of them saying "If 1 lb of C4 is good, 35lbs. should be better" as the cannon ball goes into orbit.

I think just pay the damages and a little for pain and suffering to the homeowners is all that should happen. But I grew up around firearms and missfires can and do happen no matter how careful you are thats why I always treat every gun as if it's loaded and always make sure it's pointed in a safe direction. When I lived in Post falls Idaho we used to go to the shooting range at farragut state park which is also the firing range for the millitary up there I seen them using there mortars go flying wrong directions one of them almost took out the bunker down by the firing line that people would sit in to go reset the targets. Now this was back in the early '80's. Also one time when I was working down in the bunker for the couer d alene muzzleloaders (which me and my dad were members of) setting up the steel sillouetes between rounds and touching up the paint we learned that we don't sit in the middle of the bunker sit to one side cause we had a stray bullet ricoche of the target and darn near hit me in the shoulder it went right over my right shoulder by half an inch I heard it fly by. So strange things can happen even when you think everything is safe.
RodneyBad Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 WOW!! Glad no one got hurt but Stuff happens. Fix the Damages, few bucks for the Huge scare and Inconvenience. I'm Sure Adam and Jamie were more scared.. Lesson learned.
Kaleb Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Personally since no one got hurt I think its quite funny, even if it happened to me. Man what a story to tell for years to come.
