Danno Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Just because you can, doesn't mean you should - corporate division. Ugly is as ugly does.
Chuck Most Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 The Nissan fullsize van that's coming out? Looks like they just slapped a Titan front end on a Sprinter body.
Rob Hall Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 The Nissan fullsize van that's coming out? Looks like they just slapped a Titan front end on a Sprinter body. The NV has been out for a year or so... strange looking van. There is a passenger version coming soon.
espo Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 There are many companies that do convertable conversions for dealers. This looks like something from the aftermaket. The convertable top that seems to have a sun roof for the back seat passangers. Like most of you I also thought the Murano was a wast of sheet metal.
Rob Hall Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I don't think the convertible CUV market is going to take off, but it would be interesting see more....or how about a convertible 4dr Caddy Escalade? That would be blingtastic...
Joe Handley Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 The NV has been out for a year or so... strange looking van. There is a passenger version coming soon. They're going to do a passenger version of that hideous thing?! BTW, That Nissan van is supposedly based on the Titan truck platform, I know somebody who's folks h ave one of those pickups, attimes it can't pass a dwalership without stopping to get fixed.........
Joe Handley Posted December 30, 2011 Author Posted December 30, 2011 An SUV crossover convertible, whats the point? It's pretty ugly, though not quite as ugly as the Juke. Seams like the answer to the question nobody asked to me.
Rob Hall Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 (edited) Seams like the answer to the question nobody asked to me. Sort of is..but I give Nissan credit for thinking outside the box..instead of the usual predictable FWD generic silver or white appliances, they are doing some offbeat designs.. Lownslow Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 You do have to consider that this IS Nissan we're talking about. Look across the rest of their offerings, the Cube (did they tell the stylests that curves were a bad thing ???), the Juke (makes the Aztek owners feel better)......just looked at Nissan's website so I could remember what else they are making right now. The rest of the line up isn't the best looking but doesn't come close to those 3...........Then I noticed something, the regular roofed, 4 dr Murano has a starting price of $29290...the Murano Cross Cabriolet starts at $44540 !!!!! http://www.nissanusa...modelLine/index i for one want a juke the looks say its futuristic, my cousin bought one and its a well thought out CUV the interior is probably the most comfortable interior ive ever been in. you cant compare the juke to the aztek lol you have to drive one to know what im talking about. Cube is bleh but more loaded than the XB for the price but kia soul kills em both.
lordairgtar Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Cube is bleh but more loaded than the XB for the price but kia soul kills em both. Too bad Chevy killed the HHR, better than Cube or Soul
Lownslow Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 Too bad Chevy killed the HHR, better than Cube or Soul lol wouldnt drive that if it was for free, gm really dropped the ball on the HHR by charging more for the panel version
lordairgtar Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 lol wouldnt drive that if it was for free, gm really dropped the ball on the HHR by charging more for the panel version I've owned two of the Panels. Never had any trouble with either.
Lownslow Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 I've owned two of the Panels. Never had any trouble with either. not too many of them around here everyone kind of ditched them for the hamster truck and cubes
FASTBACK340 Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 The Murano drop-top is indeed factory. And yes, it's an answer to a question nobody asked..... I've been an Infiniti technician for almost 20 yrs. now, with a few years spent slumming at Nissan. I can tell you stories... TRUE stories.... that would sound like fiction when it comes to the Nissan mindset. They create and institute policies that frustrate us at times. And their recent designs..... I NEVER see those Cube's on the roads out here in the NYC area. And the Juke is a close second. I just don't see them in traffic. And we have EPIC traffic at times with lots of cars to look at! And the actual engineering of assemblies makes it ######-near impossible at times to do a repair without major dis-assembly.So they're having trouble with the Murano convertible top leaking? You should see the horrors we're having with the Infiniti G-37 folding steel roofs. And that's just one thing that happens to be on-topic here. There's plenty more. Those Titan/Armada's are indeed the basis for the NV line, which is basically a high-roof panel version of the Armada/Q56. And as for the Titans with their frequent service needs, well...I hate to say it, but those are made here in the states. And there IS a difference between the stateside built Infiniti's (Q56) and the Japanese models (EX-FX-G-M). Not starting a fire-fight here, just stating the facts. We used to get Armada's off the delivery trailer with A/C lines not even connected! But the new Japanese models are starting to scare us too... This is what's left of a rod & piston out of a 2010 G37 AUTOMATIC.... We see carnage like this in the 6 speeds all the time (rich kids blowing up Daddy's money... we love `em!) but never is the auto's. This thing just seized-up and destroyed the engine. 27k miles, regularly maintained by us, older couple own it w/o kids. Just up & died. We have a new model coming out in the spring. Should be a busy summer of recalls, er... I mean "service campaigns".
kenb Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 John, I know exactly what you're talking about. Some these cars are engineered without the technician in mind. I worked for Chrysler for over 40 years. Just finished up. When Daimler took over the component engineers told me that they were getting together to make design changes so that seperate components could be worked on without having to take the vehicle apart. Some things did change for the better, but some actually got worse. And as far as the convertible tops, the hard top and the soft top did work as designed but were very delicate. The very early releases had fit issues and when a dealer tech who had never seen one before yet alone never been trained to repair one got his hands on it, it was destined to be a problem car. You had to be very carefull of what you put in the trunk if you were going to lower the top. Well, most of these vehicles went to rental agencies. A lot at the airport (luggage). The rest is history. Privately owned vehicled faired much better. Ken
