Crazy Ed Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Now don't for one second think I've got a problem with something selling for every penney it can get, ok. But there's a Kit that ends tuesday that's at $577 as I write this. And it's been started. http://www.ebay.com/itm/vtg-JOHAN-MARK-DONOHUE-1969-1970-trans-am-AMC-JAVELIN-1-25-MODEL-scca-NEW-COND-/110799926868?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19cc30b654#ht_1339wt_1398 What I find most curious is there has been a F/S kit with a buy it now price of $250 up for several days now. What I'm wondering is why hasn't one of the 4 active bidders grabbed up the less than 1/2 of what they're bidding. Could they be filtering so tightly that they don't see the other kit??? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-AMC-Javelin-promo-JOHAN-trans-am-Mark-Donohue-model-kit-RARE-sealed-/300643454736?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45ffbf0f10#ht_500wt_1413 I do enjoy watching the bidding Wars, but this one has me stumped
kenb Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Insane, that's all I can say. I wonder what happens when the auction has ended and the dust settles. I payed how much for what? I'd be curious to see if that's relisted due to non paying bidder. Ken
Guest Johnny Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Wives said they have to sell them! "Sorry Dear! I listed them for 10 days and didn't get a bid!"
Dave Van Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 If I could get $700 for one of mine I'd sell in a second.....and even include a new set of repro decals too!!!
Sport Suburban Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 The kit that is 250 Buy it now is listed with the promo's. That will limit how many see it.
Crazy Ed Posted January 3, 2012 Author Posted January 3, 2012 The kit that is 250 Buy it now is listed with the promo's. That will limit how many see it. That's what I ment by filtering too tightly. I do my 'bay checks using "Toys & Hobbies > Models & Kits" because I get all the subgroups by not being too specific. Those folks may be looking under one of the many sub groups. Or They're just Nuts
Dirkpitt289 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 What's nuts is that so far 38 people (as of this post) have bid on it. Is this the Holy Grail of plastic model kits?
george 53 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 To 38 people it MUST be!!! Silly fools, all they gotta do is look around, and they mighta been able to get it for 200 bucks cheaper. There's one born EVERY minute. I have that kit, and only paid 25 bucks for it. THANK GOD for toyshows!!!

mcandela Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Just wait until the wife of whoever wins it finds out how much he spent on a MODEL KIT, an OLD MODEL KIT!!!  :D
Abell82 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 With a sealed kit, too you never know what your getting. The one is open and you can atleast know what your getting. But 700.00 is ....
george 53 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Ed, thanks for the offer, i KNOW your good for it! But if I wanted to get rid of it, it LOOKS like some foo out there might give me a coupla hunert for it! It would serve them right! I DO kinda wonder WHAT kinda excuse he'd give the missus for it though. Heck if he can spend 600 bucks for a model, shoot, he AIN'T married!!!!

Dirkpitt289 Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 (edited) My question is "Will the buyer build it?" or sit on it. I can't believe this kit will ever be worth more then the $700 or so he paid for it. Edited January 3, 2012 by Dirkpitt289
Maindrian Pace Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 Minus 20% for ebay/Paypal fees. Still pretty nuts. -MJS
Casey Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 My question is "Will the buyer build it?" or sit on it. I can't believe this kit will ever be worth more then the $700 or so he paid for it. Exactly. Maybe the buyer only wants a sealed kit which has never been opened. Maybe the buyer lives in North Pole, Alaska, and there are no shows, swap meets, nor hobby shops remotely close to him/her. Not everyone has the same access to our hobby.
