ARTEMIS1759 Posted May 24, 2012 Posted May 24, 2012 (edited) I got a permagrin today. Look what I got. Can finally get around to accomplishing something. I also brought my Dad's Tyrone Malone Boss Truck and tore it completely apart last night. It came apart amazingly easy. Now to the reason I did this. I am going to cast some of the parts on the 12v71 for the one going it this truck. I plan to cast the superchargers with the intake hats and the tubing and twin turbos and intake box on it. So I guess it is time for some trial and error casting since I have never done it. Wish me luck. WIll post good update pics soon since I got me front drive axle and all the pieces to the chassis except rims and tires now. Edited May 24, 2012 by ARTEMIS1759
Dr. Cranky Posted May 24, 2012 Author Posted May 24, 2012 Nice! Lots of good parts. Mike, that mouse is turning into a nice vehicle.
Foxer Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Seems to be looking cool, Roger, but we need larger images..
Brendan30 Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 you know what, I was at hobby town today and the War Hammer stuff is pretty cool, I never looked at them before but some would be great for this build.
ZombieHunter26 Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Warhammer stuff -is- awesome... Unfortunately it's costly. I've been wanting to get some for my collection, but just for one kit with a good bit of parts it's like...30 or 40 bucks. They should carry grab bags of random detail bits from WH40k for us oddball builders that enjoy the over-the-top-ness of arming our builds to the teeth! I'd buy plenty of those, if they were reasonably priced.

ARTEMIS1759 Posted May 25, 2012 Posted May 25, 2012 Alright so small update. Been workin away on the cabs. I am slowly but surely cutting my way through the hood of the B87 and I sanded all the unessesary flash and cast stuff from the B61. I also opened up the rear window on the B61. I also found out with my design I did on sketchup and with the new parts for the chassis the chassis needs a 1.5" extension to get it to the right length.
ZombieHunter26 Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 Wasn't this done already a few years back? Yes, but why not do it again?
ARTEMIS1759 Posted May 26, 2012 Posted May 26, 2012 (edited) OK so now the front has been trimmed, cut off the the hood and shaved the fenders. Realized I almost burned through one but stopped before doing so so it can be fixed. Still need to trim more resin out of the hood area and then cut it in half to hinge it. I chewed up the B87 cab mor then I had hoped so I am gonna cut the doors out of it so I can hinge them on the sleeper cab. yes I ground down thw brackets at the back of the fender so they look better. ###### camera phone. The top pic is supposed to be where I burned through. Edited May 26, 2012 by ARTEMIS1759
Brendan30 Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Some of where I'm at, kind of stand still for now with other builds going on:
Dr. Cranky Posted May 27, 2012 Author Posted May 27, 2012 Wonderful progress everyone is making. Brendan, that is some wonderful weathering. Keep 'em coming.
Brendan30 Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 Wonderful progress everyone is making. Brendan, that is some wonderful weathering. Keep 'em coming. Not a problem! I did this car 3 times until I liked where it was at. Thanks for the compliment!
Dr. Cranky Posted May 27, 2012 Author Posted May 27, 2012 Looking forward to more progress and more eye candy and more Zombie Killling!
ARTEMIS1759 Posted May 27, 2012 Posted May 27, 2012 So more work on the parts. Shaved all the flash off the parts. Also cut the hood in half in prep for hinging it. I had to shave about an 1/8" of resin from the hood so it was closer to scale width. Also shaved the pedals off the floor since I plan to use the ones from the DM800. The winch is going on the front and then I shaved brackets into the air starter tank and hydraulic tank since the excess resin was about the perfect size. I am going to shave the pillow and bedding off the bunk and cut the wall between the seats and bunk out and then make the bed flush with the floor since my design has no bunk in it just flat floor.
ARTEMIS1759 Posted May 28, 2012 Posted May 28, 2012 Thanks, Next I am going to add the 1.5" to the frame and then start the chassis so I got a base.
treadhead Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 Well here is my latest progress on the viper. The first few photos are of the car with stowage in primer. I cut a shell ejection port in the gun turret and made a spare ammo cartridge out of Panther stowage bins. The next photos are the car with a base coat of Yellow. Ive applied the salt method to add chips to the coming camo. Im thinking of a modified WWII British cantour camo scheme. http://www.flickr.com/photos/modelbuilder73/7290943554/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/modelbuilder73/7290941324/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/modelbuilder73/7290938996/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/modelbuilder73/7290937016/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/modelbuilder73/7290934892/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/modelbuilder73/7290932272/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/modelbuilder73/7290929720/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/modelbuilder73/7290951410/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/modelbuilder73/7290949502/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/modelbuilder73/7290947480/in/photostream http://www.flickr.com/photos/modelbuilder73/7290945568/in/photostream

I had leftovers from a 40k tank I built and I can't believe they found their way into the trash. I'm kicking myself.
Zarana-X Posted May 29, 2012 Posted May 29, 2012 (edited) Found this website that has soem interestign 1/24 diorama accesories. http://www.vstank.com/vsa/home/home.html Need to get back to work on my stuff, just got burnt out dealing with too many projects at once, and then dealing with wife aggro, and a recent funeral and the fallout from that.
