Austin T Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 At the Cooter's in Nashville they have a Geo tracker general the door says 0 1/2 instead of 0 1
Rdkingjay Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Ian, referred to by the production co. as "Lee 1", that car is actually the first real General Lee. It is the car seen, towards the end of the opening sequence, jumping over Roscoe's patrol car. Also used in episode four as a Richard Petty test car. Supposedly well documented, it was recently restored to pre-jump condition, after being found in a junkyard. A few things of note, the engine bay and other non-exterior areas where there is painted sheet metal, were painted in the original color, some kind of tan or pale gold, as I recall. When the production co. painted these cars, they only painted exterior sheet metal. Also, this is the only car in the entire series to have the wide chrome trim on the rocker panels. I know, I know, useless information. But building a big scale general will do this to you.
Mr. Moparman Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 What if they drove a BLUE '68 Charger R/T......
Junkman Posted January 7, 2012 Posted January 7, 2012 Pardon me Christian, but don't you mean"braces?" As I understand it, "suspenders" in Britain refers to ladies' garter belts. Or maybe that's what you meant? Yes, I meant braces, of course. I just tried to avoid potential misunderstandings caused by transcontinentally divided etymologies, but there you go. Looking back, I don't think Starsky and Hutch themselves had much in mind with ladies' garter belts, or ladies in general.
Chuck Most Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 What if the idiot TV people had picked some other car, so we wouldn't have had to see hundreds of Chargers written off? Like what? A Cornonet or a Dart? Then people would be griping about all the Coronets and Darts that got destroyed... I really think those Chargers gave their lives for a good cause- other than the 500 and Daytona versions, was the '69 Charger ever really known for anything? After DOH, it was pretty much guaranteed the '69 Charger would be remembered forever, even by people who are not muscle car enthusiasts, or Mopar guys. Besides, when the show started out, they were just used Dodges- was there any outrage about it at the time.

My kids who are 10 and 8 know what a Charger is only because of that show Besides someone said around 300 wrecked Thats nothing compared to how many were made Edited January 12, 2012 by Rick Schmidt
dodgefever Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 300 that wouldn't have been wrecked if not for a TV show... sorry, but buying up cars just to stuff them into the ground and wreck them is beyond stupid. Being in a TV show or movie isn't one of my criteria for a car being cool either; I'll admit that Bullitt made the Charger look good, but DoH does just the opposite IMO. If anything, it would put me off owning a '69 because I couldn't deal with people asking me when I was going to paint it orange.
ChrisPflug Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 At least they got to fly through the air and go out in a blaze of glory rather than just being "privately" crushed like a couple hundred thousand other Chargers Nobody ever seems to lament the cop cars either
Rick Schmidt Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Why does no one cry for all the 58 plymouths mashed up for a certain movie? Dunno bout yall bout a 57 58 plymouth was a much nicer lookin car than a Charger

MoparWoman Jamie Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 What if they drove a BLUE '68 Charger R/T...... That charger was a General Lee, I even knew the owner of the 2nd unit car of the car. This car was used on Smallville. Under the vinyl top was a General Lee roof with decals an all. Notice the car has a the 3 point roll bar in an 10 spoke victor rims? lol
Harry P. Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 What if DOH never happened and we never had to wade through a General Lee thread, ever?
mikemodeler Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 What if DOH never happened and we never had to wade through a General Lee thread, ever? wishful thinking there Harry!
plasticbutcher Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 What if DOH never happened and we never had to wade through a General Lee thread, ever? Well could be worse, could be a Batmobile thread, HAHAHA
Junkman Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Well could be worse, could be a Batmobile thread, HAHAHA Or maybe a Peugeot 403 Cabriolet thread? With endless discussions about the correct shade of grey?
GMP440 Posted January 13, 2012 Posted January 13, 2012 Here is an interesting what if; someone mentioned a Dodge Coronet in one of the previous replies. What if the Dukes of Hazard show used a 68' or 69' Dodge Coronet instead of the Charger? Would MPC have resurrected the 68'/69' Coronet kit for the run of the show? Definetly makes for an interesting possibility that could have happened.
