Erik Smith Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Pretty inspiring. So this is what's possible. The working windows are something else - insanity.
mcandela Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 (edited) WOOD??? Edited January 30, 2012 by mcandela
LAone Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 that is some amazing wood work! but i don't think i'll be looking for another hobby...lols
Peter Lombardo Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Just goes to show you what can be done if you are properly motovated. It is an impressive build, thats for sure....and as was mentioned before...........Wood?
Harry P. Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Well, when you work on a model for ten years you can do a lot of impressive stuff. That's not to say it's not incredibly impressive... just saying that I have a feeling there are plenty of people here on this forum who could do something equally impressive if they had 10 years to devote to it.
Haubenschild Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 What is this about? , My computer doesnt want to show any links
Darren B Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 That thing is totally amazing, but this is a build that inspires me to work harder on my builds and only drives me to do better. Like it has alread been said, WOOD? that part makes it really totally over the top AMAZING.
Bartster Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 What is this about? , My computer doesnt want to show any links I've been wondering what it is too.
Ramfins59 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Jeez... Bill Geary should get together with this guy...!!! Imagine the works of art they would make. I just guess it all depends on just how crazy you want to get with detailing. To spend 10 years on a project seems like it would turn into more of a job than just a hobby. But, whatever floats your boat I guess. It is very impressive nonetheless.

If I had ten years to work on a model, I would spend nine years, eleven months, and fifty-one weeks watching TV and the last week pulling all-nighters trying to bash something suitably amazing together...
sjordan2 Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 It's a YouTube video. If you can't see it, go to YouTube and search 1/8 Scale Semi Truck
Kit Basher Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 WOOD??? WOOD WOOD ARE YOU KIDDING ME WOW!!!!!!!!! As a professional woodworker, the wood part doesn't bother me. Sometimes wood is a lot easier to work with than plastic. I don't mean to imply that I could ever do anything close to that truck, not even in 20 years!
Harry P. Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 The most amazing thing is how he made the windows out of clear wood...
SuperStockAndy Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Guy 1: "Breaker, breaker, we got a miniature semi truck rolling down the highway" Guy 2: " "
Kit Basher Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 The most amazing thing is how he made the windows out of clear wood... A very rare species indeed!
Models by Bear Posted January 30, 2012 Author Posted January 30, 2012 The most amazing thing is how he made the windows out of clear wood... You hvae to sand it really smooth to get that clear look.
Guest Johnny Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 The most amazing thing is how he made the windows out of clear wood... Well haven't you ever heard of clear pine Harry???
Chuck Most Posted January 30, 2012 Posted January 30, 2012 Awesome! There's a guy who makes working window mechanisms from brass in 1:25 scale- and I don't mean a simple little 'rack and pinion' kind of deal- he actually replicates the 1:1 mechanism in brass, just as it looks on the real car. I've struggled with making operating widows using straps, like on a race car.
