Chuck Most Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 (edited) This is a what-if phantom, based loosely on prototypes built by Hudson in 1948 and a few homemade versions. All of the chrome trim and ornaments were removed, the remaining plated pieces were stripped and sprayed in Argent paint, and the engine was down-graded to a single carb mill. The bed is from a '41 Chevy. Basically, my take on what a '53 Hudson production pickup may have looked like done as a base model. Edited September 1, 2012 by Michigan Madman
Harry P. Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Chuck, that is just too cool! Nicely done, as usual. BTW... I say you post this in the car "Under Glass" section, too. This needs to be seen by as many people as possible.
Danno Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 Believable. Entirely believable. Nice concept. Nice execution.
crazyjim Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Would that be a Hudamino? Nice concept and build.
Dr. Cranky Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 I agree with Harry, builds like this one deserve as much attention as they can get. Great job, Chuck, and I'm trying to pin down what color that is. Where is it from?
bbowser Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Cool! I like the single carb setup, bare bones utility and economy. Great idea and execution.
Ramfins59 Posted February 2, 2012 Posted February 2, 2012 Fantastic idea and great build Chuck. It always amazes me how many ways builders will modify a new kit as soon as it comes out. I bought one of these Hudsons and it is "in the To-Do pile". I'm thinking of making mine a Custom.... Down the road along with dozens of others as always.
Chuck Most Posted February 3, 2012 Author Posted February 3, 2012 I agree with Harry, builds like this one deserve as much attention as they can get. Great job, Chuck, and I'm trying to pin down what color that is. Where is it from? Ah... right! The color is Krylon Hunter Green, straight out of the rattle can. Slick, exotic stuff, that Krylon.
Dominik Posted August 26, 2012 Posted August 26, 2012 ...how could i miss that? Dont know...shame on me! Chuck, thats a very cool Hudson. Looks very realistic, the semigloss finish is perfect for it!
Shardik Posted August 27, 2012 Posted August 27, 2012 Very well thought out and extremely well executed. I could easily be persuaded that this was a production model. Now who's gonna do the tow truck version?
thatz4u Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 Chuck, nice work. I'd like to see a photo of the rear of the cruck (car-truck) thanks..
Chuck Most Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 Chuck, nice work. I'd like to see a photo of the rear of the cruck (car-truck) thanks.. This is the factory-built prototype- A few were also built by private individuals, and a few Hudson dealers built or had them built as parts runners.
rmvw guy Posted September 1, 2012 Posted September 1, 2012 I don't know how I missed it back in February but, glad I got a chance to see it today. Really cool!
Chuck Most Posted September 1, 2012 Author Posted September 1, 2012 Thanks, guys! Note- original post 'fixed' so that ALL the photos actually show up.
