Shelbytona Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 I started on this build friday and got it done quick! a lot of hours went into it and i'm very happy with how it turned out. The paint has tons of red metal flake and it's been clear coated three times to bury the flakes.
Shelbytona Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) I'll get better outdoor pics tomorrow! Edited February 20, 2012 by Shelbytona

BOSWELL891 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Wow that's cool I may just have to get this kit after seeing this
Shelbytona Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 Thanks guys! it is definitely a tricky model to assemble... especially when it comes to the chassis parts and those three piece side mirrors! overall it's a great kit and worth getting just for the two sheets of decals!
Wagoneer81 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Wow that's cool I may just have to get this kit after seeing this What he ^ said! Very nice! I like it! Beautiful paint!
Joe Handley Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Very nice finished product, can't wait to see that paint in the daylight now too!
LAone Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 that came out really sweet! some inspiration for the one i have in my stash..
Yahshu Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Very nice for a chebby, love the paint & decal job.
stulee11 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 that is one sexy van well done on it... i know what ya mean about them side mirrors i just done mine and my god there tricky to get to stay stuck lol... did you have any trouble with the dash fitting at all ???
David G. Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Nailed it! Everything looks great, right down to the fake side pipes. David G.
Eshaver Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Ya done real good sir ! Nice to see a customized van on this board ............ Truck onward. Ed Shaver
oldscool Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 That van is happenin' as we used to say in the 70s. Just as I remember them. Is it OOB or did you add some "accessories"? I also remember most of them having the side pipes like those that weren't hooked up. Nice gus
philo426 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 (edited) Really cool! One question;why didn't you connect the side pipes to the headers and delete the stock muffler set up? Like this Tom Daniel California Vette! Edited February 20, 2012 by philo426
Shelbytona Posted February 20, 2012 Author Posted February 20, 2012 Thanks for all the compliments! The dash actually fit good on mine.. You had troubles? The steering tie rods were too long to attatch to the knuckle tho, and hooking it up was tricky! I just built it box stock (no mods) so the side pipes are dummy ones. Like Gerald said, some were fake back in the day.
philo426 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Ok! I seem to remember that fake side pipes were available for a cool look without having to hook them up.
