Eshaver Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 (edited) This project has dogged me for four years . Finding what the building origionally looked like was tough enouugh . Finding things related to Crown oil was , near impossible too. Meanwhile , George 53 contributed a couple of kits , Disabled Modeler sent tools and some accessories he didn't need . I cut and re- cut and re glued , only to find a detail wasn't right . With a week to the Old Dominion Open in Richmond Va , I present to you , Twin Chimneys : This diorama will show what the place should have looked like in 1965. Built in 1957 it still resides in Highland Springs Virginia just outside of Richmond as a Real estate office Ed Shaver Edited February 19, 2012 by Eshaver
Ramfins59 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Looks good Ed. The people add to it nicely.
gasser59 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Alright Ed. Glad to see you got it done and it looks great. I see alot of scratch-built items there.
Kris Morgan Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Very nice Ed. Nice to hear the one in Virgina is still being used. Would be better if was still being used as a gas station but, it is still neat to see these old stations used for other purposes.
george 53 Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 That rascal came out GREAT,Ed. Wish you luck at the Old Dominion Open!
Joker Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 See you and the Crown Dio at the show .. I'll bring coffee
jerseyjunker1 Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 what can i say Ed great as usual. it would be cool to do another one as the real estate office and put them side by side.not so hard to find modern real estate stuff as it is vintage gas station stuff.

crazyjim Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Pretty cool. You even have the hoses out to ring the bell inside when customer drives in.
george 53 Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Look closer Jim, he even has the TIRES on the RACK WRAPPED in shipping paper!!! WITH Gasket sets hangin on the walls!!! I saw this bad boy coming together an he din't forget a THING.
Eshaver Posted February 21, 2012 Author Posted February 21, 2012 George , that's why I spend YEARS building one of these projects . Takes time to wrap tires , make up fan belts , design oil can racks , make lifts that will hold a car , reduce art to make maps with in the office , scratch build two soda machines ............ Ed Shaver
David G. Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Awesome! This is one I wish I could see in person. David G.
