Duntov Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 This is absolutely stunning!!! Proof positive that the old AMT kits can be built to a very high standard.... very well done!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
Jon Cole Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 It's restorations like this that make me glad to be a part of this board! Real sharp job!
bbowser Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 The 'before' pics are how most of my builds looked when I was a kid . What a great job in restoration!
1930fordpickup Posted March 12, 2012 Posted March 12, 2012 Very well done . Just wondering if the grill is a cut down 34 ford pickup custom grill?
Joker Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Ron ...you are a work horse.. that resto build had to be a challenge. great outcome and awesome addition to your shelf
Austin T Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 That looks great, what did you use to get the glued joints apart.
Guest Johnny Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 From the ashes it rises! That is just one beautiful Edsel Vert! Great save!!!
GeeBee Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 WOW !! What a difference, that turned out one real nice model, hard to believe you turned a sow's ear into a silk purse ....
realgone58 Posted March 13, 2012 Posted March 13, 2012 Beautiful mild kustom, very tasteful, great colors. Love it! I've got some to restore as well. I hate trying to get all those glued on custom pieces off. What's the trick? Freezer and alot of sanding?
FordRodnKustom Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Many thanks to all, I really appreciate your good words about this build!
FordRodnKustom Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Excellent work! Do you have and progress pics to post? David G. Sure do David, you can find pics of the build here: http://public.fotki.com/bigfordpilot/my_built_model_cars/built_models/built-models/58-edsel-convertible/
FordRodnKustom Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 Very well done . Just wondering if the grill is a cut down 34 ford pickup custom grill? Good catch Andy, that's exacly what it is!
FordRodnKustom Posted March 13, 2012 Author Posted March 13, 2012 That looks great, what did you use to get the glued joints apart. I mostly use a small screw driver, exacto knife and round engraving bits in the old Dremel to remove the glued on parts. In this case the rear fender openings were too far gone after I got the skirts off so I had to splice in a set from the current hard top kit.
cobraman Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 You did one heck of a job on that old Edsel. Looks great !
David G. Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Thanks for the link. You put a lot of work into this one and it's well worth the effort. David G.
Danno Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 Most excellent, sir! Great job. = That's pleasure and admiration, Jim.
