JHDrew Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Thought I'd share an old build since there are probably enough people here that have never seen this one. I put this little guy together back when the new beetle and the PT first came out. I saw a VW and a PT parked next to each other and was hit with some inspiration. The grill was modified to look a bit like a Cord using Evergreen half rounds. I also added four scale inches to the bottom of the body all the way around and frenched everything in. The back window is from the PT. This is the last enamel paint job I have done. I mixed the color myself and coated it with candy orange. The tires and wheels are aftermarket and I don't recall who made them. Enjoy!
patami Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 That looking like something the factory sould have done. Nice very nice indeed man. Like the flow of that car.
GeeBee Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Now I like that a lot !! love the colour, what did you use ??
JHDrew Posted March 21, 2012 Author Posted March 21, 2012 Now I like that a lot !! love the colour, what did you use ?? It was a combination of Testors Turn Signal Amber and Stop Light Red. Both enamel paints. Can't remember what I used for a candy coat. Never going to use enamels again for a car body.
Steven7319 Posted March 21, 2012 Posted March 21, 2012 Like it. It works surprisingly well. Cool build.
Lunajammer Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 That's pretty forward thinking, considering you were awfully close to what the new VW is going to look like now, at least in the profile. Any more (bigger?) pics?
Danno Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Most excellent! Very good blend of the design elements. Thanks for bringing it back around for another lap, Jim.
bsoder Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Nope hadn't seen it...thanks for the repost, this is worth seeing!..very cool B)
Dominik Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Coooool idea! Looks like it is factorybuilt from Chrysler. Why didn't they had such a great idea for the PT?
JMD904 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Thats an awesome custom or a "what if" car there! I guess its name is PT Beetcoupe?
martinfan5 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 I never and will like the PT cruiser, but I like what you did, very nice, it really does look like a beetle , nice color too
Kanedge Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Very cool, much better than a normal PT Cruiser, well done. I want that colour too, its exactly what I'm after for one of my builds.
Sixties Sam Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 Great blend of PT and VW! Great color! Call it the P-Teetle, maybe? Sam
