jjsipes Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Why are Tamyia Paints so hard to get in this country? I know they come from Japan but most model kits come from overseas as well and we haven't had a hard time with getting them. Any insight fellow members?
Erik Smith Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 They are still trying to catch up from relabeling. Primers and bottle paints seem to have stabilized but spray colors are still limited in my area.
charlie8575 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 They're starting to come back into supply, it'll just be a while to be back to pre-Kalifornia-dust-up levels. Charlie Larkin
The70judgeman Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 If I remember correctly, the paints were reformulated and now they're getting back on the racks. There was a notice on the Tamiya paint rack at one of my LHS's.
martinfan5 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 If you are talking about one of your LHS , it also depends on of fast they restock there supply as well, Tamiya paints sell pretty fast I am going to guess

There was just a period of time when Tamiya was doing their reformulation and the hobby store couldn't get the paint...that's what they posted right on the paint rack as I said before. I didn't miss out on anything as I have another store to shop at too...they're cheaper too.

I would think that everyone should be getting caught back up by now with the formula cans , its been a few months now
MikeMc Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 Not a reformulation, but RELABELING.. Thanks to the land of CA, and thier "Air Quality" rules....sorta like the C,A.R.B. rules...They screw up the air and WE all get to pay.....Then just when Tamiya was getting the new labeled stuff, The tsunami wiped out production plants and that set them back more. GOOD NEWS is that it is starting to come back...moving quite fast as most of us were Jonesing without!...I know I was out of TS6, and TS29.....both staples at my bench.

martinfan5 Posted March 22, 2012 Posted March 22, 2012 If so I'll have beach front property. G Yea but I bet your property tax's will get raised or something so the State of Nevada can make money off it happing
Agent G Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 As long as the casino's don't fall into the water, our taxes should remain the same. Insert crossed fingers here. G
Monty Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 TS-29 (semi-gloss black) is still impossible to find in my local hobby shops & none of my usual online sources have had it in stock in months. I hope Tamiya gets these backorders filled soon before the Cal 'tards find another reason to jam things up again.
martinfan5 Posted March 23, 2012 Posted March 23, 2012 They will say that the colors caps are bad for the environment or will make pregnant women go blind if looked at

martinfan5 Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Was at the LHS today, and the Tamiya spray paint section was almost empty, they did have a few cans of primer.
Tommy Kortman Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 Well whatever you do, dont move to AZ, we have enough Californian's here And Mexicans...according to the news. So once I cross the Cali border, then everything on the planet will cause cancer? Man what do you guys have in the water out there? One favor though...before you drop into the pacific, could you send all the cool cars this way? Thanks!!
jjsipes Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 So it now appears as if the Tamiya Gloss Clear TS-13 is discontiuned. What the heck is going on? I just got to using this stuff and I am loving it and they discontinue, this sucks. Anybody have any idea why?
DanielG Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 I would have been happy to supply you all with paint but even if I could have gotten it through US customs the shipping would have been prohibitive.
mikemodeler Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 PM sent, check your MCM mailbox for some information.
martinfan5 Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 Two of my LHS have started getting stocked up on Tamiya paint, most of the common colors were stocked, low , but there.

Wouldn't mind a few of the beach bunnies, either. Charlie Larkin
