jeffs396 Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Very cool! I couldn't see a snorkel air intake anywhere on it? Love how the wipers are going underwater
Chuck Most Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Cute how the driver keeps the wipers on while the windshield is mostly submerged and pushing out a 'bow wave'.
Joe Handley Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 For a minute there I thought it was going to be a Ford............................................
Ben Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Now, if they could only get the smell of fish out of the AC ducts!
sports850 Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 That's filmed down here , a bit further south in Victoria , presumably in the floods we've had recently . Normally there's a snorkel up the back of the cab on those things but he's still pushing his luck crossing there . And they aren't windscreen wipers , they're fish scarers

Dr. Cranky Posted March 31, 2012 Posted March 31, 2012 Makes perfect sense to know that it'd get to you whether it's fire or flood.
Harry P. Posted March 31, 2012 Author Posted March 31, 2012 I'm still not sure how that was actually possible. I mean, an internal-combustion engine needs fuel and air to operate...
Agent G Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 It's Australia, they're upside down, down there, sort of, maybe.................... G
sports850 Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Tongue firmly in cheek Nah , you guys are the ones upside down , our side of the world has less land mass so therefore is lighter . We all know that if you get a ball and stick weights on it to symbolise the continents it will roll until the heaviest side (Europe , see , they are dragging the world down is on the bottom and were on top . After all , the globe was only put north side up to keep the poms happy so they had a reason to think their cold wet country had something going for it after all , what other country would send their prisoners to paradise while they stayed where they were cold and miserable . I am writing this on my phone sitting on the beach after surfing with my kids on a beautiful autumn day while my mate is shivering in his london spring :)
Harry P. Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 It's Australia, they're upside down, down there, sort of, maybe.................... G I don't think I could get used to living in a world where June and July is winter!

sports850 Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Harry , you could get used to it when christmas means you are surrounded by girls in bikini's on the beach you can keep your white christmas , I'll keep the bikini christmas :)
Qwit Pushin Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 Didn't anybody else notice the driver's door open and let out a mass of water? Those guys were treading water inside the cab!
Agent G Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 I don't think I could get used to living in a world where June and July is winter! A good friend of mine informed me she was heading to Australia for a summer vacation. Her main squeeze has family living there. Baby girl gets back and she is P'd! Yes, July is winter in Oz. She is the blondist redhead I ever met. G
Drgon63 Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 I'm still not sure how that was actually possible. I mean, an internal-combustion engine needs fuel and air to operate... Harry If there is no snorkel on the outside then the air may be plumbed into the cab, I have seen off road vehicles that use this type of system including off road swamp buggies and jeeps, also have seen them on some of the vehicles that transverse the jungles and need to make deep water crossings....
mikelo Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 I like how they kept the wipers on! I believe the inletsnorkle is behind the cab and in front of the body. Take a look as it goes by and you can see a black tube running up, but I couldn't see the top. Mike

Harry P. Posted April 1, 2012 Author Posted April 1, 2012 Well, there has to be some sort of high-mounted external air intake somewhere... otherwise this would be impossible. But I don't see it.
Roadkill2525 Posted April 1, 2012 Posted April 1, 2012 At 0:57 you can see a snorkel/breather between the cab and apparatus of the fire engine.
Joe Handley Posted April 2, 2012 Posted April 2, 2012 Well, there has to be some sort of high-mounted external air intake somewhere... otherwise this would be impossible. But I don't see it. That's why Mike brought up what appears to be a black tube that runs between the cab and utility box, that would be about the right spot for a snorkel on a truck like this
Harry P. Posted April 2, 2012 Author Posted April 2, 2012 At 0:57 you can see a snorkel/breather between the cab and apparatus of the fire engine. Oh yeah... now I saw it. Easy to miss!
