Harry P. Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Allow him to explain his actions under the scrutiny of his peers. I know its considered "drama", however I believe it's sometimes good to call someone out publicly for their actions. Nobody is under any obligation to explain their private business here, "bad trader" or not. A trade is a private transaction entered into willingly by both parties; this forum is not a jury, and this is not the place to put a "bad trader" on trial. And if a person isn't responding to emails or PMs... why would he suddenly respond if he's labeled a "bad trader" publicly? And if by some chance he actually did respond, what do you figure he'll say? That yes, he's a bad trader and deserves to be publicly scorned? Of course not. Much more likely, his response would be that it's the other guy who's lying. And then we have the classic "he said, she said" situation which solves absolutely nothing. This whole idea of publicly outing a "bad trader" doesn't work, it doesn't solve anything and it's not going to be allowed here. Work it out in private. If you can't work it out, just move on.

The same thing could be said about "customer service warnings" dealing with the aftermarket. A guy does 1000 sales without a problem, but something goes wrong with one order and they get raked over the coals, and it always turns into a drama fest.

A guy does 1000 sales without a problem, but something goes wrong with one order and they get raked over the coals, and it always turns into a drama fest. I've seen the same sort of warnings on other sites as well. However most of the time the person being slammed will come on and make things right. Like on a Jeep forum I'm a member at, if someone slams a company for bad customer service, especially if they are a sponsor at the site, they will usually come on and try to make things right. However, if nothing is going to happen, then just lock this thread since it isn't going to help anything.
crazyjim Posted April 10, 2012 Posted April 10, 2012 Since then, I have warned anyone (via PM) I see about to go into a trade with that person and will continue to do so. Now that sounds like a good idea.
dimaxion Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 I've been a Forum Member since 2006 on a few dedicated to Model Cars . This one is the only place where trades have soured for me . The first one , I tried to warn this community about a bad trader . I held nothing back including how my mistake created a fiasco . I admitted my fault in the nightmare . Many members berated me for reporting and expecting the other party accountable . Some members agreed with me . This was resolved to a point . One of my trade partners did without . He did not get what he wanted . I made it right for him . I am out , lesson learned . A couple years later , a member defending me and I negotiate a trade . This dragged on and on . He Posted he wanted to trade off another interesting item I was seeking . I had something he wanted once again . We agreed to make a 2 for one . few years have passed now . I feel so stupid I did box these up . Lesson learned . My question is , should I have the audacity to inform a moderator will I still be a Bad Guy ? Since I am out only my time and troubles locating and packaging my end of the deal , I will avoid this . No , I will not divulge names as you know who you are .. Thanx ..
1930fordpickup Posted April 18, 2017 Posted April 18, 2017 John maybe they forgot about it.. I hope it was not me. Maybe they misunderstood a PM or had a different offer and were too embarrassed to PM back. Sad no matter what happened.I had something sitting here for about 6 months that I had ready to ship. I just unboxed it and put it away, as I was tired of waiting on a response. Life gets funny sometimes and we never know how we will respond most of the time. Still trading on here.
DrKerry Posted April 19, 2017 Posted April 19, 2017 I too only trade for the most part with people I know. I have a list of guys that I know are upstanding guys and had no issues with. Yes the P.O. Loses stuff or what have ya. I'm just skeptical after a guy on here burned me before and has been banned from here for scamming others!!!! If it's something small and not worth much I'll take a chance but not if it's a high dollar kit!!! I know it sucks to be taken on stuff like this, I know I felt that way.....
Deathgoblin Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 I hope I haven't been a bad trader. If I've ever missed anyone, please let me know.
IceMan Collections Posted April 20, 2017 Posted April 20, 2017 I've done plenty of trades here and on other forums. I believe both parties are responsible when sending it out. Doing so in a timely manner is a plus. Anytime I send something out I pay for tracking. It's my protection in case they claim they didn't receive it. If they don't receive it for whatever reason it's my responsibility to give them. Refund or some type of compensation. Insurance does wonders if the package does get lost. I normally expect the same courtesy. And to me, one bad trade is enough to not trade with them. If they can't make it right, I'm not willing to risk putting myself in that situation. If they made it right then technically it wasn't a bad trade. But I do believe that sharing these experiences helps other make decisions. It's called word of mouth. Good or bad. Social media is a powerful thing I just saw it in action on Instagram. Guy posted that another guy hadn't send him anything since December. Called him out by name and boom! By the end of the day a kit was being shipped to him. Nobody likes to be called out in public but sometimes it's the only thing that gets people moving.
