Psychographic Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 (edited) I've had this idea bouncing around in my head for about a year, a Deora Cabover as a hauler. I started with a gluebomb and lopped it off at the base of the back window. Then using the remaining side pieces, I made the rear wall of the cab. In the below pic, you can see I've already widened the wheelwell. Widening the other side, cut out the rear half of the wheelwell. I forgot to take a pic of the next cut. It's cut vertically at the point where the wheel arch meets the bottom of the body. that is the filler to widen the wheelwell. Just move it from the back, to the middle. You can see the cut lines laid out in the 1st and 3rd pics. Now I wanted to add to the body, it might work as a showcar, but as a hauler, you want a bit more room. a 1/4" was added along the bottom of the body. A mock up pic, the frame will need to be narrowed. I also don't know if a set of Pro-Street tires or Duallies would look better. I made a hinge to tilt the cab. Chuck Most Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Loving that tandem rear axle setup, and the Hoosier whitewalls. It's suprising how well that A-Brothers design works as a COE cab.
darquewanderer Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I love this idea. Going to keep an eye on this one.
Trucker_tim Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 That's pretty cool love the way your using the kit in a non standard way. Kind of like my dodge l700 Coe I am chopping an lowering. I will be trying to keep up on this one good job on the wheel wells. (null)
FASTBACK340 Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 That with a stretched wheelbase would make a neat flatbed hauler too. Great variation on an old friend!
Psychographic Posted May 5, 2012 Author Posted May 5, 2012 Thanks everyone. I cut the floor out of the interior tub and added 1/4" to match the body. I also cut out the doghouse as I don't know how much room I'm going to need for the engine. I plan a considerable increase in HP for this hauler. I won't be gluing the floor back right now, it will be much easier to finish it up to primer before making it permanent. It fits very well.
Psychographic Posted May 5, 2012 Author Posted May 5, 2012 What kind of engine do you have in mind? If it'll fit,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
TooOld Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 This going to be a wild Deora ! Can't wait to see more .
Chuck Most Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 That'll work. Might be the only thing that'll fry all four of those tires at once.
blazefox Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 If it'll fit,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, what and were can i get that awesome motor
Psychographic Posted May 6, 2012 Author Posted May 6, 2012 (edited) I think it's going to be a bit longer than I thought, but that Allison engine is pretty big! Starting on the rear frame rails, Edited May 6, 2012 by Psychographic
Trans Am Erik Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Sweet idea man, Where did the Allison come from? Looking forward to seeing more on this one.
rustybill1960 Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 Very nice concept and design what are you using to put those pieces together? are you bracing any of the seams from behind? I like your direction,Keep going, really want to see the final product! Thank You for sharing Later Russ
FASTBACK340 Posted May 6, 2012 Posted May 6, 2012 I've said it before and I'll say it again.... you have good sense of style and a great imagination. No other engine would look right after seeing this mock-up. Looking forward to future updates.
