Webb Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Built this one about twelve years ago from a Southern Cross kit. It was the Le Mans winner in 1950. It took second place in the small scale class at the IPMS nationals in 2000. Chris
Dave B Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Beautiful job Chris, would like that in 1/24. Could always try & convert a SMER GP car I guess! Dave B
Harry P. Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 Fantastic! If that was only good enough to take second place, I'd love to see the first place winner!
Chillyb1 Posted May 22, 2012 Posted May 22, 2012 That is indeed a fantastic model. I don't know how you guys do it in 1/43 scale. I'd love to see more of these kinds of cars. I'm a fan of French cars in general, and of these little racers in particular.
Draggon Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Outstanding! I cant imagine doing that one in 1/43--great work!
Badluck 13 Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 What took first place??? the real thing????....Chris you are a master at these classic race cars........
Webb Posted May 23, 2012 Author Posted May 23, 2012 Thanks for the compliments! It was really a fun kit to build because it was "engineered" so well. I can't take any credit for the amount of detail. It's built box stock but the level of detail included is much more than most 1/43rd kits. You can even read the numbers on the "preselector" gear shift! As for the 1st place winner of the Nationals, it was a black stock car, maybe Earnhardt? I guess you never know what the judges are going to look for. Don't get me wrong, It was a very nicely decaled stock car but..... Thanks again, Chris
sjordan2 Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 (edited) This is unbelievable. On the other end of the spectrum, you might be interested in seeing how one modeler is totally scratch building a 1/8 version of a car like this. I think it proves what incredible detail there is in your 1/43 build. http://www.scalemoto...-lago-t26c.html Edited May 23, 2012 by sjordan2

There's also a 1/8th scale scratch built Cheetah on that site that I would give my left one for! Chris
