Built this one about twelve years ago from a Southern Cross kit. It was the Le Mans winner in 1950. It took second place in the small scale class at the IPMS nationals in 2000.

That is indeed a fantastic model. I don't know how you guys do it in 1/43 scale.

I'd love to see more of these kinds of cars. I'm a fan of French cars in general, and of these little racers in particular.

Thanks for the compliments! It was really a fun kit to build because it was "engineered" so well. I can't take any credit for the amount of detail. It's built box stock but the level of detail included is much more than most 1/43rd kits. You can even read the numbers on the "preselector" gear shift! As for the 1st place winner of the Nationals, it was a black stock car, maybe Earnhardt? I guess you never know what the judges are going to look for. Don't get me wrong, It was a very nicely decaled stock car but.....

Thanks again,

Chris

This is unbelievable. On the other end of the spectrum, you might be interested in seeing how one modeler is totally scratch building a 1/8 version of a car like this. I think it proves what incredible detail there is in your 1/43 build.

Holy cow, THAT is unbelievable! Makes me feel like I should find another hobby. There's also a 1/8th scale scratch built Cheetah on that site that I would give my left one for!

But a model only comes out as good as the builder no matter the quality and detail in the box....and you have proven to be a master at it !
