My contract for moderating has ended, leaving me more time to build! I didn't have the time or patience be a good mod. Plus, my style of moderating didn't quite jive here.

Good luck to the next mod, whoever that lucky soul shall be. Everyone else, get back to building...nothing to see here.

I should lock this thread....nah. :)

Peace

I think it is good for a forum to rotate moderators, keeps it fresh and allows different views to be heard. I think it is also good for the moderators to keep from burning out or letting personal feelings or conflicts from doing their job in an unbiased manner.

I totally agree Mike, Personal attitutes should be left at the door if it interferes with the proper functioning of the forum, so should personal hang ups.Moderators NEED to be impartial.

Contract? Are you sure it's expired? There might be a snag or two hidden in that fine print... :lol:B)

LOL...Yeah, expired...with a big asterisk. I always enjoyed creative writing in school. :)

I think if I remained a mod any longer, I probably would have been assassinated.

I was a mod for many years on a car forum and I was there for the coming and going of several new mods , the first rule of mod selection was that anybody who asked to be a mod , didn't get the job . We would just watch other members and see how they behaved , how they interacted and resolved arguments with other forum members and also what sort of opinions they held on things . Modding is a hard job , no matter what you do or say someone will be offended with it for either being too heavy handed or not heavy handed enough (probably over the same event) .

The one thing I will point out is that former mods need some form of extra vigilence from current mods as forums often work like school yards and people will hold grudges long after the event and will target ex mods when they no longer have modding abilities to defuse things .

I have enough trouble moderating the voices in my head- I dare not to think what it would be like moderating this zoo...

I want to be a Mod! I love the music, and the style, but make my Scooter a Lambretta, Vespas are so over done.

You're dating yourself. And so am I by knowing what you're talking about. I wanted to be a Rocker.

Really, it depends on HOW many people are on your forum.I mod a forum where there are a buncha nuts and we all get along GREAT! there's only 26 of us there and it's small enough where we are ALL freinds, and I don't EVER have to pull rank, or threaten or make remarks that are uncalled for. This place is TOO big to have attitudes towards people, regardless of WHO you are. The nasty little PM's are TOTALLY uncalled for. If you CAN'T handle it, there's NO NEED to have the job. Mods here can't afford to have attitudes, it brings the WHOLE forum down. An that's the truth!

So did you learn anything being a Mod ?

Would be interesting for you to share the experience with us all...you know the Likes and Dislikes...Yourself and Others..

Cheers Don.
