Nick Winter Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Doing a replica of my new (to me) '93 Chevrolet Cheyenne C1500 pickup. Wanting it to be fairly well detailed so I have been working at it slowly, anyway: The 1:1
Jared Roach Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Hey nick I can't wait to see this build! The truck looks great so far and it looks to be coming along good so far.
JustBill Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 Nick man, for a '93 that's a great looking clean truck! Looks like it was a one owner and garage kept. I look forward to seeing your build for it.
Nick Winter Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 Thanks guys, actually Bill I'm owner #4, though the man who I bought it from had it from '95 on, but it has never been garaged, it's always been a winter driver, just has been very well maintained by all the previous owners and I plan to keep that tradition going. Nick
midengineaddict Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 (edited) wow, your 1:1 truck is very clean, much cleaner than my 2003 1:1 truck I can't wait to see your 1:25 one Edited June 3, 2012 by midengineaddict
MicroNitro Posted June 3, 2012 Posted June 3, 2012 I had a new 95 GMC What a great truck they had with that body style. We put almost 300,000 miles on it most of the time pulling a race car trailer. It never had a real problem. I will be following this build.
Nick Winter Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 Thank you Luc and Jim, Anyway, progress in 1:1 and 1:25th 1:25th first: Did a loose mockup and finished off the tires, In september the 1:1 is getting a set of the Wranglers. 1:1, New Distributor cap & Rotor as well as Plug's and Wires. Reason why it was hard to start on damp or cold days. Distributor rotor was severely corroded Nick
Nick Winter Posted June 3, 2012 Author Posted June 3, 2012 Sure was, Runs like new now. Threw a set or Champion Double Platinums in it and used my NAPA discount to get NAPA premium Cap & Rotor, already had the Champion silicone plug wires. Nick
Nick W. Posted June 4, 2012 Posted June 4, 2012 I always use the echlin parts on my vehicles! Great job with the build Nick!
tooltas Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 that a very nice 93 ck truck before the airbag wheel but love 88 to 98 cks its got a 305 or 350ci
Nick Winter Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 305, Non Vortec, just the way I like it. Nick
Kit Basher Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 Looks like you're off to a good start, Nick. Great job lettering those tires. One good part about building a replica of your 1:1 is you just have to walk outside for references. I'll be watching.
Jordan White Posted June 5, 2012 Posted June 5, 2012 that a very nice 93 ck truck before the airbag wheel but love 88 to 98 cks its got a 305 or 350ci Yeah they are good trucks. I actually like the look of the airbag wheel, at least the one up to '02. Only thing that sucks is it's harder to add an aftermarket wheel. Build is looking good so far Nick, I always love replica builds since it can be interesting to see how people make parts that aren't found in kit form already.
Nick Winter Posted June 5, 2012 Author Posted June 5, 2012 Thanks Hugh and Jordan. Hugh, your very right, and with me replacing all kinds of parts on the 1:1 I also have seen things most wouldn't, Jordan, I'm lucky, not to many things I have to scratchbuild on this one. only things I can think of are Headrests, tonneau cover, Exhaust, A/C system, Portion of the Air Cleaner and a few mix detail items. Nick
Nick Winter Posted June 6, 2012 Author Posted June 6, 2012 Finished a few parts: Started modifying the interior: And ran across a problem, compare the below door panel to the above. So Scratchbuilding some new door panels tonight. Nick
camaroman Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Nick, I have really come to enjoy following your builds. I am sssooo glad you stuck it out here on the forum. Your skills have developed exponentially from the first time you posted here. These are my favorite "late model" Chevy pickups!! Can't wait to see it finished!!!
W-409 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Great progress! I like the 1:1 car too. This is something, I've been planning for my 1st car when it's time to get one. These are not so expensive here in Finland, and of course cars need to be American. Good job all over on this build, can't wait to see more.
Kit Basher Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Looking good, Nick! Nice job on the door panels and running boards.
gray07 Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 Looking great so far, the wheels turned out perfect, also your truck is sweet.
