fatkidd Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I purchased this boat at a local swap meet for $1. I figured for a buck, I'll do something with it. The top and bottom of the hull are 2 separate pieces (held together with small pieces of tape in the picture), a seat, a steering wheel (not sure if its the correct one but the molded orange color seems to match), and the outboard is 2 separate pieces ( again, held together with small pieces of tape in the picture). My question is...where would i find info on it? What kit did it come in? Were there decals for the boat? What am I missing(besides the prop)? any and all help is greatly appreciated. on with some pictures...
jbwelda Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 have you tried a google search on plastic boat outboard motor kit? might bring something up.
hotrod59f100 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I' would like to know to. Did you look on the inside to see if there is any stamping?
Jantrix Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 No idea. What scale is it? Whatever it is, I'm sure you can paint it up cool.
Don Sikora II Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I think that is from one of the late 70s/ early 80s Revell sets where there was a car or truck pulling a trailer with something on it. Typical tow vehicles included the early Fox-bodied Mustang and Datsun pick up.

This boat was part of the "River Rat" set which included a Chevy Luv pickup and the boat on a single axle trailer.
Austin T Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 You got lucky for a buck,here is a resin one.http://www.seltd.net/ez-catalog/X344897/16/SP-009
fatkidd Posted June 7, 2012 Author Posted June 7, 2012 jbwelda - i tried to do a google search but had no luck. hotrod59f100 - I looked on the inside of the hull and deck pieces and there are no markings anywhere. jantrix - I have no idea what scale it is. The boat measures 5 1/2" long and just under 2 1/2" wide. I haven't put any thought into a paint scheme, but i probably will do something odd with it.

crazyjim Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Never saw such a boat but I can't wait to see a trick paint job.
Casey Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 jbwelda - i tried to do a google search but had no luck. As Don stated above, the boat is from the Revell "River Rat" kit #H-1382:
sjordan2 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 (edited) It would be interesting to know if it's based on any particular boat. There have been many mini speedboats that look like that, some with no windshield or the windshield painted black to look like it has one. Here's a no-name version where you buy the hull. (So, if it comes from a kit with a custom Chevy Luv, does that make it the Luv Boat?) Edited June 7, 2012 by sjordan2
hotrod59f100 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Thats cool . I have the luv now I got to get me that boat.
crazyjim Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 That yellow & blue thing looks quick, Skip. And scary.
1930fordpickup Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 That is a great deal for a dollar ! Those kits if complete are around 30 bucks or so online. Now you don't have to use that ugly Luv truck to hook it to.
