Big Daddy Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Well our trip to erie pa is just 1 week away and after many emails to a local hobby shop there i have my kits and supplies all picked out that i want and being on hobby lobby web site i have a wack of stuff there i want also, plus a few other places to get stuff, i've been saving up for almost a year and have 800.00 would this much spent be considered crazy or addicted to the hobby or a little of both
JunkPile Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 You are crazy and also seriously addicted. But it's just so much fun!
MAGNUM4342 Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 (edited) If you live on an island or somewhere far from civilisation then no, it's not crazy you're just stocking up. It would only seem crazy if you lived in a well populated area like Ontario Canada or some place like that. Oh! Uh...wait a minute... Edited July 2, 2012 by MAGNUM4342
Wayne Buck Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I don't think it's crazy, as long as you have a roof over your head, healthy food to eat and the bills are getting paid. It's a hobby that you love! I've spent twice that amount on one bare cylinder head for our 2.3l turbo Mustang!
JamesW Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Nah, not crazy at all. If you're getting stuff that you can't find where you live then it's all good. You've been saving for almost a year, it's not like you took 1 whole pay check to spend.
cobraman Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I agree, I don't think you are crazy. There are other hobbies where people spend a whole lot more money than that. Spend your money and have fun !
george 53 Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Nope, your NOT crazy, an it IS your money! I take about 250 to the two toyshow/swap meets I go to twice a year. Sometmes I make out great, and spend MOST of it, sometimes I bring it back home, but EVERY time I go, I have a GREAT time. I agree with Wayne, as long as your REAL obligations are taken care of, the rest is up to you,HOW you spend your hard earned money.
JamesW Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I agree, I don't think you are crazy. There are other hobbies where people spend a whole lot more money than that. Spend your money and have fun ! Exactly. I spent just over $2000 from 1/1/12-2/1/12, not on just plastic, but it was for kits/supplies and aftermarket stuff for my 1:1. But my bills were paid first.
Art Anderson Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Yeah, it's an addiction--but what an addiction to have, huh? Just think about it: ZERO calories, non-fattening, won't stunt your growth, no nasty hangovers the next morning, doesn't leave your teeth feeling all fuzzy; all the while guarranteed to be fun and frustrating all in the same breath! CAUTION: Any edible or otherwise ingestible additives may cause your results to vary from this warranty!) Hmm, almost sounds like a formula for a long, happy life to me! Art
crazyjim Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 It's only money and you can't take it with you. Enjoy it and spend it while you're still around to do so.
Agent G Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I will again state what MrsG said shortly before our wedding. " Order what you want honey, I'd rather have you sitting at the breakfast bar building a model, than sitting in a bar hitting on one." It's all good Bro. G
rmvw guy Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Just ask the RC guys what they spend some time. I think we are all seriously addicted or we wouldn't be on here!
bbowser Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 If your hobby was boating or skydiving think what that costs. Or if you like to play with 1:1 cars $800 will get hardly anything. And yes, we're all seriously brain damaged here
rel14 Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 I,ve seen these people down here in florida pay that much to chase a little white Ball ,,,So, i'ld say your about normal, maybe a half bubble half,,, LOL

1930fordpickup Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 This makes perfect (cents) or should I say perfect dollars. This is the money you are saving by not paying shipping cost. You end up with more stuff and you know what you spend on your hobby , I have no idea how much I spend.
Mercman Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Go for it. I do this also once a year when I go to the NNL North. I hit the shops in Mpls./St.Paul, and get stuff I cant get here locally.
