martinfan5 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 When sellers ship out side the US, they list that, only listing USA for shipping is a good sign the seller wont ship outside of the USA, I think you should of asked the seller if he would ship to Canada before you place your bid. Mistakes happen, tell seller you made a mistake, and asked to cancel the transaction.
Harry P. Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Why would the OP lie about it? My comment was directed at you, not the OP. YOU are the one that I quoted and replied to, not the OP.
Casey Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 But he didn't state that in his ad. He just quoted shipping for the US. No where in his ad,does he state "no shipping outside the US" or "no international bidders". If he didn't want international bidders bidding on his kit, then he should have stated that. Most sellers that don't want to ship outside of the US,CLEARLY state that in their ads. Like Andy said, even the $11 shipping for the US was way too much. He stated exactly where he WOULD ship to. If it's not listed, the seller DOESN'T SHIP THERE. Tibuktu? Nope. Swaziland?? Neagative. Santa Claus at the North Pole??? Sorry, Santa, he doesn't ship there. It was perfectly clear to me the buyer oniy ships to the U.S. because HE STATED EXACTLY THAT IN THE LISTING. This is cut and dry, The buyer did not follow the listing terms. What happend after that doesn't matter, as the buyer didn't follow the terms of sale.

This why sellers on Ebay get bashed all the time, because sellers dont read what is posted in the listing, or fail to ask the seller a question, now I agree there are a lot of bad sellers on Ebay, this could of been avoided if the buyer would of contacted the seller. And it does not matter what is put in the listing, most people dont read half of it anyways.
mademan Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 Might aswell delete this thread since the mods are just going to bash me.lol

my80malibu Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Ask to cancel the transaction and get one elsewhere
sjordan2 Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) Not to draw too fine a point on this, but looking at the listing shows that the seller DID NOT SPECIFICALLY STATE NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING, just as Casey indicated by posting a link to the listing. He only offered US shipping rates, and the shipping inquiry button was set up to only allow US shipping and no other options (which doesn't necessarily mean no international shipping was available). This could have been cleared up ahead of time by sending a question to the seller. Many of my eBay purchases have been from other countries, and I have done this in the past. And I have seen time and time again on this forum that Canadian members are amazed at the costs of shipping to Canada from the US, just across the border. We have plenty of threads on that. Casey Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 That's only correct for international shipping in 1-3 or 3-5 business days. No one is going to pay to ship a kit internationally in those time frames. I've shipped stuff to England and it didn't cost much more than what it would to ship inside the U.S. Prices are almost always different when you actually step inside the post office than what you get quoted online. The biggest hassle is filling out customs forms. In order to be protected by eBay/PayPal's seller protection policy the seller must ship via some service which offers delivery or signature confirmation, so that the seller can prove the item was received. This means he has to ship via USPS International Priority Mail at a minimum, as that is the cheapest USPS International service with which you can get delivery confirmation. You cannot get delivery confirmation with USPS First Class International shipping, so it doesn't matter if it's cheaper or not- the seller has to have delivery confirmation on the package, so Priority Int. IS the cheapest. Pay and print postage online via PayPal = customs forms get filled in automatically, and print out just like any other shipping label. No more customs forms. Plus, if you can hand them to the mail carrier, you don't even need to go to the Post Office to drop them off.
Brizio Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Ask to cancel the transaction and get one elsewhere And read all before bid!

I buy LOTS of stuff mostly from the states.... so I am never really "Amazed" by shipping charges.... dont see my couple hundred posts on this forum, make me look like a newb, ive been in the game for years. I just dont post much here. Ive bought a few grand worth of kits/detail items on ebay in the past 6 months already, and not once have I had someone try to get 3 times the item price in shipping charges. The main reason that I posted this up, is because of the 38-42.00 shipping. I do agree that i overlooked the US only shipping, but in my defence, when im on site, or up in camp at work, I do all of my dealings on an Iphone.
Mike Kucaba Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 I prefer "cash & carry" when I buy model kits. Yeah Nick, but yer an old skool kind of guy
Mike Kucaba Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Might aswell delete this thread since the mods are just going to bash me.lol Yeah might as well, Your complaint isn't playing out too well. It never fails to amaze me how a modeler as a buyer comes on to a model forum, jumps up & down about being abused on ebay by some filthy stinkin' seller and when the facts are really known can't admit that he/she was wrong. (in before the loc?)
Lownslow Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 i shipped to canada and it didnt cost me that much i think it was around 11$, get a refund bro.
mademan Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 (edited) im done, ive got mail to open, and things to build. no time to flex my internet muscles. Edited July 11, 2012 by mademan
Fat Brian Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 No one is bashing you, but the tone you started the thread with makes it sound like the seller is a jerk but when all the facts are in it's more a case of buyer error. The $42 shipping is the cheapest delivery option that has international delivery confirmation, thus protecting the seller and complying with Paypals requirement of delivery confirmation for insurance on the sale. Yes, you can get it there cheaper but the seller is protecting himself by insisting on delivery confirmation all the way to your door.
LAone Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 yeah mike, no one is bashing on you bro. ask for a refund and tell him it was an honest mistake. he might not be 100% happy that your doing so, but if you feel that your getting jipped then ask for a refund. plowboy, you gotta read the rules about selling on ebay. lots of requirements to sell. the biggest is that all items sold need to be shipped with a delivery confirmation, tracking is optional based on the seller. some of these sellers dont get paid until feedback is left and it has to be positive. i just got a kit that i bid on. i opened the box and the wheels were missing. i messaged the seller about it, he wasnt aware that they were missing and offered a refund. i still wanted the kit so i asked for a 5 buck refund and got it. moral of that: NOT ALL sellers are out to get/keep your money.
aarondupont Posted July 11, 2012 Posted July 11, 2012 Mike: I'd just ask for a refund! Maybe you should have waited for an invoice before paying. But.......I too pay almost immediately prior to invoice. Not had a problem yet. Oh and by the way, I had the $15.57 bid that you won at 16.07. You said you've got a few others. What are you building? I was going to go gasser. Hope you get it straightened out! Aaron Dupont
mademan Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 thats where I am confused Luis..... VERY FEW of the parcels that I have recieved in the past, say 4 -6 months have had tracking numbers. I buy ALLOT of stuff. My biggest complaint is that say the shipping qoute is 20.00 ..... I have no problem paying it, if that is the ACTUAL shipping cost, plus a few bucks for a packaging/handling fee; But when I pay 20.00 shipping and I recieve it and the box label clearly states that it cost 5.75 to ship....... Ive clearly been ripped off.

I really dont have plans for them yet, but usually when I find a kit that looks good I grab a bunch of them for the stash. By the looks of it, this kit may be back up for bids, as I offered to pay his listing fees/relist fees, etc. for the trouble.
martinfan5 Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 I really dont think anyone was trying to bash you, I think this was a case were a simple email to the seller would of been a good idea, just chalk this one up to, oh well, and move on, no harm, no foul.
slusher Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 l would not pay it either. The seller pays no comission on shipping. Get a refund buy from someone else....thats what l would do...Slusher
mademan Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 I am currently working with the seller. He agreed that the shipping was ridiculous, and is gong to the post office to see what can be done. Thanks for the advice/input guys
Junkman Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 ...The seller pays no comission on shipping... Wrong. This has been changed recently and it is now the total invoice amount a seller pays commission for. This seller is going out of his way to make a client who obviously made a mistake happy nonetheless. I would have lost my patience much earlier and cancelled the deal. I can only highly praise and recommend the seller!
