Colin Russell Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Hi guys,I am new here so bear with me if I muck things up..LOL Here is an Edsel I did a while back,I managed to fit a blower under the hood,it has modern directional wheels and a few flames to liven it up a bit.The paint is Tamiya pearl blue and standard black both out of a rattle can. Hope you like it.
Guest G Holding Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) Very kool Colin!! Have you been hiding in a cave.???? That is a great Hot Rod!! Edited July 15, 2012 by G Holding
Harry P. Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Pretty nicely done. One suggestion: take your knife and slice the flames at the door line and use some decal setting solution or clear enamel or acrylic to get the decal to snug down. The flames should not cover the door panel line like that.
bbowser Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Nice two tone paint and great foiling job. Don't see many hotrod Edsels!
Agent G Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Nicely done! Harry's right about the decals. Me personally, I'd lose the flames. They take away from the overall finish. I think the car is built just right and doesn't need them. G
Harry P. Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Nicely done! Harry's right about the decals. Me personally, I'd lose the flames. They take away from the overall finish. I think the car is built just right and doesn't need them. G I agree with that. They don't suit the model and they don't conform well to the wheelwell shape. I was going to say that, but I think at this point they might be a pain to remove. If he didn't clear over them, he might be able to pull them off with masking tape. But then again... he may like them!
Agent G Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Oh yes he can build that Edsel any old way he wants! The way he did is just fine as it is, I'm just expressing an opinion. You know what that means. G
slusher Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Now thats a sharp edsel. Thats the best one l have seen.....Slusher
Bartster Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 This turned out great. l've always thought Edsels looked good hot rodded. Just don't see enough of 'em. Nice work! Bart
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) I like it like it LIKE it. I like the flames precisely because they don't predictably go with the rest of the build, but I think they do work, and set it apart from being just another pretty resto-rod. it looks like the edges have a little blue that picks up the interior color too. And even though the curve of the flame doesn't match the curve of the wheelwell, the curves are related, and I think the particular layout of the flame pulls the eye away from the heavy nose of the car, which can be overpowering on these. I like those directional wheels too. Even though I find them too busy for a lot of cars, there's so much going on with the Edsel styling that it needs some visually strong wheels. In short, great looking build !! Edited July 16, 2012 by Ace-Garageguy
Grumpa Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 Awesome looking build Colin. Love the wheel treatments, and welcome to the gruop!
phil-east Posted July 16, 2012 Posted July 16, 2012 looks great, a really nice clean build and the paint looks cool. good work.
Colin Russell Posted July 16, 2012 Author Posted July 16, 2012 Thanks very much gents. :D It sat on a shelf for a couple of years before I knew what to do with, thanks Harry I will use some Micro sol to 'snuggle' them down and yes...I like the flames.
Dominik Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 The overall view looks very nice. Colors, wheels, stance, paintjob and BMF - well done! I agree with harry and wayne about the flames. Your Edsel looks really perfect -also without them. But: Its your model, you like it as is and thats all that matters! Everything else is a matter of taste of each individual .
TheCat Posted July 17, 2012 Posted July 17, 2012 That looks really cool. I like the color combo on this build.
