Rob, I think you picked a winner. I love that Krylon burgundy. It's great for interiors.

Looking forward to see how she turns out.

It seems like this build is happening on a wing and a prayer and with the contributions from some of the excellent people here.

The kit - traded for through this forum. Ditto the wheels/tires. I don't remember through whom but I thank you.

The engine from - Ace-Garageguy.

Exhaust goodies- VW Dave

decals- sstacey47

This for you guys. More soon!

Finally a day off. I've been cleaning and spreaying parts little by little for a few days so some assembly is god for soul. The chassis is painted in a Krylon color called Hammered Finish Steel. It looks a lot like the powder coating I have seen on a lot of hot rod chassis'. I know the IFS on this one is a little out of place on a rat rod, but no one has shown me the rat rod rule book yet so I'll wing it as always. I did trim off the molded springs and replace with some coiled beading pins. Gonna do some engine work here shortly and will be throwing some primer on the body. More soon.

It's gonna have a blower and dual 4 barrels - what sorta thing should I put atop the carbies. I have these staggered velocity stacks, some ratty stacks of aluminum, and this bird catcher scoop.

Opinions?

Looks good so far . I like the frame finish and the wheels and tires you chose .

Who says a rat rod can't have IFS ?

Okay, a little primer and a mock-up. Headers are going to be a real challenge on this one. I think just some gasser style fenderwell headers will do the trick. Gotta lower the grill/fenders and shorten up the radiator. Pretty sure I'm going to use the top. I am having a great time on this build though.

Well got the engine pretty well set up. Still gotta work on the alternator and tensioner brackets so I can get the Harry Pristovnic seal of approval. :D I'm still not sure about the exhaust. I'm going to have to make some fenderwell gasser style headers. Ideas welcome. I have decided that the body will be flat black. I've got some cool decals and the top will be burgundy. Lots to do.

Something I'm enjoying right now. I had a thread for this a while back, but I'll be darned if I can find it. It's all 1/24 kitbashing and coming a long nicely. A little harder to channel one of these than I thought. My plans (at the moment) are for no weathering, and matte military green. I am scratch-building un-upholstered door panels. More soon.

Looks pretty cool Rob! Only suggestion I have is I would cut that front end down and just use the area around the grille. I would cut between the grille and headlights. I'm doing a coupe and using a '37 pickup grille with the coupe's headlights that I made buckets on the back of them with putty.

Pb, the front end treatment was one of the build ideas I liked the best when I came up with it. Ive never seen it done before. And if you guys know anything about my work, you know that something different is what I'm all about. Thanks for your input.

looks cool , love how you cut the fenders :) and those doorpanels look great ..

not sure on the boxy scoop , a rounder model would look nicer with the curves of the body ..

curious on the progress

rob, i like the ideas on this build. ive never seen fenders like that and that sets it apart from the rest. the inerior panels are fantastic. have you thought about making a set of floating rear fenders to match the front? kinda like they do on them choppers :-) just a thought.... looks great keep it goin!
