hmm, interesting. not quite sure where you're going with it, but will keep an eye on it.

I had a thread for this a while back, but I'll be darned if I can find it.

hint: to to the black bar at the top of the page and click your username and choose 'My Content' from the list. it'll give you a list of everything you've posted.

More work tonight. I rather like the color. It looks more military green in person. A nice semi-gloss too.

Ignition wiring and alternator brackets. The body still needs some work and still need to finish the door panels.

A 1/4 inch off the end of the header and we're back in business.

More soon.

Very creative and interesting take on this body style. You're definitely giving me ideas.

One thing about the new 'blower hat'....it's really more appropriate for an injected setup, as it has throttle butterflies in the front of it. There were some aftermarket scoops like this made, but having the butterflies in place is an additional source of pumping-loss horsepower-killer on a carb setup. If you just open up the front of the scoop and do away with the butterflies, it would be right functionally and still give you the cool look.

That's kind of odd as the blower hat came with the blower and carbs from the Revell '68 Corvette kit. The part is already painted but it might look cool with those drilled out. I appreciate the advice.

I'm glad you like the idea. I've always wanted to do a "fat fendered" rod sans fenders.

Well, it maybe represents a 'pretend' hat. I think CalCustom made some carb toppers that looked like that. Typically this design hat has throttle butterflies controlled by a cable or hydraulic linkage from the foot pedal and the butterflies are connected to the barrel-valve, which varies injection squirt as a function of throttle opening. Since carbs have their own throttle butterflies, more butterflies on the front of the hat would be superfuous.

Yup, a vintage CalCustom carb topper, minus butterflies. Nothing to say you couldn't do the same thing with the design you have......or I suppose you could leave the butterflies to keep birds, curious children and small objects out when the engine's not running..... B)

Ace I don't mind critical. Critical makes me a better modeler. We are all critical of everones work but choose not to voice our opinions for fear of pissing someone off. I don't get better if no one points out where I've gone wrong.

I want feedback on my work. Comments, criticism and new ideas are welcome. You cannot offend me by doing so. Thanks for the help, Ace.

That's what it is all about I guess!

I have learned many things too when I have got criticism of my builds. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought a Polishing kit, no Aftermarket ignition wires etc. I guess there's the same thing with many other Modelers too.

Anyway, I really like what you are doing here. I can't find anything what is really wrong with it, the whole build looks excellent to me. Keep it going.

Well I was going to go for a rather clean look on this one, but something happened when I was clearing to change my mind. Apparently Krylon Italian Olive paint and Krylon Crystal Clear Satin are incompatible. I got this rather cool looking crazing that looks oddly in scale and looks a lot like old flaking paint. A little acrylic wash really brings out the effect. So a weathered rod it will be after all.

I drilled out the scoop. I like the look now.

The body in paint. I'm really hoping for the same crazing after the decals.

This will be my last post before we see this under glass. So the body is painted, decaled, cleared and weathered. Just a few more details to iron out. Front seats, the roll bar and finish the top. I hope to have this done before I go back to work on Wednesday.
