Scuderia Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 (edited) This kit is an OLD Monogram snap kit. Very basic parts count, non-existant interior detail. Some of the snap aspects of its parts fitting is nice though. May not be the last snapper I build up. Glad it's being re-released as the '85 version in the 'fall'. Wheels are the option from the '70 BOSS Mustang kit. Edited July 25, 2012 by Scuderia
Lunajammer Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Fantastic execution. Snapper or high detail, it all boils down to what you bring to it and yours looks really crisp. I drove an 82 Camaro for nine years. No complaints.
Scuderia Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 Thanks for the kind words. I was minus details so I went with a slight two part body colour. I was considering a thin red line above the silver, but wasn't sure how to execute it right. When i was a kid i loved seeing these style Camaro's
martinfan5 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Wow, looks really nice, you did a great job on this one.
Scuderia Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 Thanks! you gettin somethin finished soon? i wanna check out that ferrari you have on deck lol
martinfan5 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Thanks! you gettin somethin finished soon? i wanna check out that ferrari you have on deck lol I am working on it, flocking is holding it up
Roadkill2525 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 (edited) Your Camaro does look good but its a '85-89 Z28 '82-84 Z28 front bumper and taillights Edited July 25, 2012 by Roadkill2525
Olskoolrodder Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Your Camaro does look good but its a '85-89 Z28 '82-84 Z28 front bumper and taillights Very correct,it's most likely tooled off of Monogram's old '85 Z28,which was a pretty dang good,if basic, kit. The spoiler kit, hood and tail lights are the dead-give aways as to year. AMT had an '82-84 Z28 in 1:25 scale... NOT that that matters,as you did an AWESOME job putting it together,it looks great,I love it! Despite the Ford Pony in my avatar (that was in my driveway last and the first half of this year),I had '87 and '89 IROC-Z's,I wish we'd see more 3rd gen Camaro's in scale (and 1:1). Nicely done,my friend!
Scuderia Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 Thanks for the kind words and the input, I didn't realize they did the 85 car before branding this one as an 82 lol. That crazy Monogram...
MyBradKeselowski Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Looks great nice looking Camaro. I like that 305 motor...
bbowser Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Great build, can't tell its a snapper at all. These used to be everywhere but a lot of them got crashed at the local racetracks, just like the Monte Carlos.
Scuderia Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 Thanks guys, yeah with as ubiquitous as it was I bet many met a demise on the local tracks and drag strips lol.
kelson Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 You did a great job,but i believe you have the original snap kit of the 85'Z28E released in the mid 80's,monogram also released the 82-84 Z28 as a snaptite kit representing the car from the 80's tv show Simon and Simon.
TooOld Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Really nice looking ! The white paint looks great ! I didn't know that "snap kits" had engines .
Scuderia Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 Yeah neither did i, but this one does (kinda lol) Apparently the subsequent re releases were all of the same tool from what i can gather google searching as well.
martinfan5 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 You do what I do half the time, forgot the side mirror inserts
Scuderia Posted July 25, 2012 Author Posted July 25, 2012 Yeah I have em in the box i'll pop em in tonight lol
Tonioseven Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 I love seeing these cars in 1:1 AND in scale! Terrific work on it!!
Volvoman Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 A really good build, I have always liked this particular Camaro. Considering that it was a snap kit, you have made it into something special. Well done.
Dominik Posted July 27, 2012 Posted July 27, 2012 Can't belive, that it is a snap-kit. Beautiful Camaro! Absolut beautiful.
