cruz Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Hey guys, I am putting this baby together for a friend. So far, the body is prepped for paint after eliminating some nasty mold lines and the engine is pretty much complete. I will be painting the car black and maroon as per my friend's request. Once I get the paint, I will continue updating....... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Here, the body is lightly sanded and the panel lines scribed and ready to go..... cruz Posted July 31, 2012 Author Posted July 31, 2012 The engine is already plumbed and wired and ready to be attached to the chassis soon.... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
1fine89 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 That engine looks great ! I agree! What did you use for a black wash?
Danno Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 Super engine! Plus, the engine stand is pretty nifty!!
Joker Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 The paint on the engine has that "military" build look to it. As always the seam work is flawless. Topic followed.
cruz Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 I agree! What did you use for a black wash? Thank you. I use the line of shades by Citadel from the Games Workshop stores.
Chuck Most Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Super engine! Plus, the engine stand is pretty nifty!! Looks like the one from the Fujimi Tuner Parts set. Or should I say one of the pair from that set. I think you should talk your friend into letting you keep the engine on that stand- it just looks too nice to hide underneath a hood!
cotto Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Terrific start Cruz, cant wait to see what you do with this one. That engine looks terrific. What did you use for the bent spark plugs?
cruz Posted August 1, 2012 Author Posted August 1, 2012 Thanks guys and yes, the stand is from one of the Fujimi Porsche kits. Hosted on Fotki The spark plugs are actually bent pieces of hypodermic needles.
edward smith Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Great work on the Hudson engine, looks incredible. What color and paint did you use?
cruz Posted August 2, 2012 Author Posted August 2, 2012 Great work on the Hudson engine, looks incredible. What color and paint did you use? Thanks my friend. I used Model Master gold from the small bottles. At the onset, the paint turned out a little too metallic looking because of the heavy flakes in the paint so I decided to shoot some Testor's dull coat on it. By doing this, it got rid of the heavy metallics in the paint. After this, I shot a coat of clear and then finished off with the washes.
kekefe Posted August 2, 2012 Posted August 2, 2012 Black and maroon would be great, nice work on that engine too...
Olskoolrodder Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 That engine looks fantastic (as does the bodywork ),can't wait to see more
cruz Posted August 7, 2012 Author Posted August 7, 2012 I personally hate the metallic paints from the Lacquer line of Testor's, I think the metallics are way out of scale and unless you are doing some sort of lowrider type of build or something, at least for this subject is wrong. What can I say, my friend wants it like this, who am I to argue.... Anyway, I painted, polished and BMF'ed this thing over the weekend and if you hate using BMF, this certainly will not be the model for you..... These are the paints and color..... Hosted on Fotki These are the results. I must say that once I shot the clear, the intensity of the flakes diminished a bit... Dr. Cranky Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Gorgeous paint and colors. I like the fact that the undercarriage is weathered. This one is going to be a keeper, that's for sure.
rmvw guy Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Everything looks great so far! The shine on that body is awesome under the light!
meaneyme Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Fantastic work Cruz even if you are not happy with the paint used. Looks like a lot of BMF on that thing, how much fun was that?
slusher Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 That is an awsume paint finish and foil looks excellent...
