Ajay Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 (edited) Well after a fairly long break from modelling I've finally picked up a kit & started whacking plastic again with a Kustom Hornet !. Here's where I am currently with the body : Still need some more shaping & sanding on the body mods - I'll try & post progress as I make it. Thanks for looking (sorry for the picture quality) Andy Edited January 3, 2014 by Ajay
H.A.K Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 nice start... keep those pics coming. Like what he said.^^^^^

Tom Kren Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 THAT LOOKS GREAT IS THAT THE RESIN CHOPPED BODY OR DID YOU DO IT YOURSELF?
Dr. Cranky Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 If this is a resin body I would like to know where you got it. I love the smooth look. Keep it going.
rmvw guy Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Alright that took a minute to realise it's a Hudson, thought it was another Merc. Guess it would help if I took time to read! I love the grill and headlight treatment. That is going to make a cool looking sled!
bryan_m Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 oh man! that is soooo coool! i love it! cheers bryan
JasonFL Posted August 8, 2012 Posted August 8, 2012 I'm usually not a fan of the hornet, mostly cause I don't like the whole back wheel covered up but when it's all laid out like that with the killer front end treatment and the wheels, you can't help but love it. Can't wait to see it done, keep it up
Ajay Posted August 8, 2012 Author Posted August 8, 2012 THAT LOOKS GREAT IS THAT THE RESIN CHOPPED BODY OR DID YOU DO IT YOURSELF? Hi Tom, I did think about getting the Jimmy Flintstone body but his stuff is pretty hard to find in the UK so I decided to get the razor saw out & have a go at the chop myself. Thanks for the comments everybody. Andy

JasonFL Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Not a fan?!Shoot that's what I love about these cars, but to each his own Lol...ya I figure that's why a lot of people like the hornet, but for some reason it just doesn't look right to me unless it's all laid out on the ground. It's not just this car, I'm like that with any car that has the full skirt. I still like the cars, just not partial to that feature.
Chuck Most Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Any car looks good laid out low and chopped. This one is no exception. The fact it's a Hornet makes it even better.
Ajay Posted August 9, 2012 Author Posted August 9, 2012 (edited) As we're blest with sunny weather over here today just a couple of better pictures of the body in primer Thanks for looking Andy Edited August 9, 2012 by Ajay
Greg Pugh Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Wow! This isn't your grandfather's Hudson...... Looks awesome!
Tom Setzer Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Great Start, I Like It, and will keep watching the build!
Ajay Posted January 6, 2013 Author Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) I did actually get as far as painting this one but had some etching of the plastic where the trim etc had been removed so nothing for it but to soak the body in brake fluid !. On reflection I've decided to use the stock hood so as to retain more of the Hudson styling. I've also been thinking about what to use for the taillights and decided to use the ends of the Pontiac grill from the Revell 49 Merc suitably thinned down and mounted vertically. Added bonus is that they have lenses that I can paint clear red. Thanks for looking - sorry for poor pic quality. Andy Edited January 6, 2013 by Ajay
1fine89 Posted January 6, 2013 Posted January 6, 2013 I've never really been a big fan of the Hudson, but this one has opened my eyes. Please give us more ASAP!!
