Jantrix Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I use Krylon a lot. I use their flats, silvers, and primers quite a bit right now. However, Lowes, Kmart, and Home Depot have all stopped carrying it (and are clearance pricing what they do have, so go stock up if you can) and are going back to Rustoleum (which I think is complete ###### with lousy nozzles) and Valspar (Lowes only) which I have never used. I haven't checked WalMart or Ace yet. I'm not happy about this and told the management in both hardware stores. Just a heads up.
martinfan5 Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 (edited) I know wally world is still carrying it, I know Autozone also carrys the line as well, I only use their Satin Black, white, and matte aluminum . Edited August 11, 2012 by martinfan5
Ryan S. Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 The Michaels stores around here carry a lot of the Krylon sprays too. I've never seen them at our Home Depots, just Rustoleum. I've normally bought them at Wal-Mart.
charlie8575 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 From what I can see, Wal-Mart, Ace, Do-it Best, and True Value have no plans for dropping it. As to the clearance deals...thanks for the tips, Rob! Charlie Larkin
58 Impala Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 The Super Walmart by my house carries Krylon in dozens of colors in gloss, satin and flat. I use Krylon a lot for frames ,suspensions, and interiors. I've seen people paint bodies and polish them out, I've been tempted to give that a try.
slusher Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Rob. the ace, walmart and hobby lobby keep it all the time. l use it also now...
Deathgoblin Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Hobby Lobby seems to have a really good selection. Our local Meijer's store has an even better one.
jaydar Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 I have not had good luck getting it to cover white styrene chassis. It does not cling to the high points. Yes i wash the plastic. I also use Plastic Prep. Maybe i have the wrong Krylon Satin Black?????? Can you tell me exactly what the label name is. I know they have several lines. Thanks, joe.
charlie8575 Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Make sure you're priming the parts, Joe. I recommend using Plasti-Kote or Dupli-Color lacquer primer for best protection and coverage. The primer coat makes the difference. If it's simply running off and you are priming, try changing the angle the part is at when you paint it. Charlie Larkin
mikemodeler Posted August 12, 2012 Posted August 12, 2012 Krylon is on sale this week at Hobby Lobby.

Skydime Posted August 14, 2012 Posted August 14, 2012 I noticed my local Kmart had switched...and the colors are awful! Eh, no biggie for me, Walmart is closer...and cheaper. But it is sad to lose the line from Home Depot and Lowe's.

I have a couple near where I find myself at least periodically, so I might stop in and see what they added. Hopefully grab a can or two of Krylon, too. Their flats are nice for interiors. Jantrix Posted August 15, 2012 Author Posted August 15, 2012 Charlie, my K-Mart is carrying Rustoleum exclusively. I've never had good experiences with them. Their nozzles are ######.

Charlie Larkin Mine is Rustoleum exclusively ...just some black, white, red, silver, blue. Basics mostly...and ugly shades of them. However, I have noticed that my local Walmart stores have started carrying Rustoleum laquer gloss black...which is a real bonus, IMO, because you get a big can cheaper than Testors.
