Der Bugmeister Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I built lots of models in my teens and early 20s, but hadn't built one for about 17 years (or longer) until now. This is my "warmup" build, the first kit I've done since the early '90s. Hasegawa 1967 Beetle Far from "perfect", but I relearned a lot along the way, and picking up a lot of new ideas, tips and tricks to use on my next build. To say it went smoothly would be a gross exaggeration...wound up stripping and repainting the body a few times and still wasn't 100% happy with it. My lame photography skills help hide some of that though ;-)
Skydime Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 All these Beetles and buggies on here lately are giving me an urge to get a real one. Nice job there. Looks good to me.
fatkidd Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 My 1st car was a '67 bug...and it was blue too! Although it was a different blue. This is well done. And I really like the use of the tags as the backdrop.
Foxer Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I had 3 beetles and never tire of seeing them. Yours came out very well! Welcome back to the building crowd!
Der Bugmeister Posted August 30, 2012 Author Posted August 30, 2012 Thanks fellas. I've got 4 real ones in the garage for when I get tired of miniature detail There's a Hasegawa 1966 kit pretty much the same as this one, I'll build that one in a few months and see if I've improved any!
ChrisR Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 As the owner of a 1:1 1966 and 1969 - GREAT MODEL!
crazyjim Posted August 30, 2012 Posted August 30, 2012 I had a '58, a '66, an Empi dune buggy and loved them all. Nice build and welcome back to the hobby.
