Ken Kitchen Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Sorry guys, didn't realize I was missing the water hose, now where the heck is that thing??????? I'm constantly amazed at the details I see in a photo that I don't see by looking at the model. Sometimes I think I'd be better off focusing a camera on my bench and then using the monitor to see what I'm doing. This is a beautiful build. Keep the pictures coming.
Olle F Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Outstanding! Very clean build, and the colors are just right on this car. I'm not much for stockpiling kits, but I sure wish I had picked up a few of the bubbletop version when they were still around. Once I find one, I might just steal the color scheme from you.
Tom Kren Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 WOW!!! That is sharp great job! i have that kit have a set of aluminum valve covers from a guy named BOB keeps buggin me about them LOL Have to get movin on all my builds!
Randy Kern Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Fantastic looking, Cruz! I'd have to say this Impala and the '59 'Vette you did in the same color scheme are two of my favorites. That interior is top notch, and the flocking is expertly done .
Lyle Willits Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 Outstanding! Very clean build, and the colors are just right on this car. Lindberg is in the process of reissueing all of their model car kits. You should soon be able to buy as many Impala kits as you want.
Modelmartin Posted August 6, 2007 Posted August 6, 2007 I never thought of a 61 in silver but it looks fantastic especially with the white trim and red interior. I like it.
Tom Kren Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 again very nice but question for ya how did ya go about painting the white side trim Im need to start this one up again...
Olle F Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Lindberg is in the process of reissueing all of their model car kits. You should soon be able to buy as many Impala kits as you want. Excellent! I'll make sure to get a few this time then!
Fisher61 Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Great looking build ! Your paint is flawless, and the wheels are a nice touch !
RichCostello Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 That's one nice Chevy!!! I love the rally wheels and color combo on this car(I can see it with a white top). It's hard to go wrong with a '61, I think it might be the best looking year of all the Impalas.Great job.
Andy Wyatt Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Oh yeah! Love that one Cruz! I'm glad to hear they are reissuing those...I'll probably get 4 or 5 each of the convertible and hard top. Great subject to do factory stock or mild custom/street machine.
MrObsessive Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 That's a real beaut Cruz! It's hard to believe the changes from one year to the next, yet the '59 to '64 Impala's are essentially the same car.................just different sheetmetal and interiors. If they're releasing the '61's again............I have to get the convertible. For some reason I never picked this one up when it was out.
Peter Lombardo Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 I have to agree with everyone else...beautiful build. Great finish on that paint. I also never thought of this year Chevy in silver. When I close my eyes, I can see a 61 Impala in triple red with white trim. The silver is a nice change of pace. I have a coupe 61 that I am planning to do in deep blue one of these days. P.S. Tom, that light metallic blue coupe looks great so far. I want to see that when it is finished.
cruz Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 again very nice but question for ya how did ya go about painting the white side trim Im need to start this one up again... Hey Tom, glad you like it. For primer I used the white Plasti-Kote and before painting the model I taped the primered stripe and when done simply clearcoated everything. I liked it even more because for some reason it came out like a sort of bone white which I thought gave it more of a correct look in conjuction with the silver Tamiya Lacquer I used. Loved the color you chose for yours, you should finish it man
cruz Posted August 7, 2007 Author Posted August 7, 2007 With the exception of the windshield frame all the chrome parts were Alcladed, I bought this kit for 3 dollars at a flea market and the chrome was pretty bad...........
ismaelg Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Boricua, That's a Beautiful cruiser. The color combo is stunning. I particularly love the wheels and the white letter tires in the back, blackwalls in front. It gives it a 70's flavor to it with a hint of performance, not just looks. Thumbs up! Thanks,
cruz Posted August 14, 2007 Author Posted August 14, 2007 That is just one great looking Chevy Thank you and everybody for their replies.............
