Piero Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Hello, I don't know if you have a presentation section, so I post here... My name's Pierre-Emile, but everybody call me Piero. I live in southern France, and scale modelling is one of my favourite hobbies ! I like to build junkers and dioramas... I'm better in wrecks than show cars Of course I'll post pictures of my cars and dioramas... My other great passion is cars... 1:1 scale ! I've got a '70 Chevelle, bought in California in 2011. Thanks to read me. Cheers
Greg Wann Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 WOW! It is really cool when someone from another country joins this forum. Welcome. You have a muscle car in another country. It must be tough to afford gas for it.
bbowser Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Welcome to the site. You won't find a finer bunch of craftsmen, and everyone is willing to help. Looking forward to seeing your work.
crazyjim Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Welcome, Piero. You found a great place to be.
JunkPile Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Howdy! Welcome to Model Cars Magazine Forums. Come in, have a seat, and enjoy the show.
Foxer Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Welcome to the forum. A drive in that Chevelle must be rare with your gas prices. Even here they are just for fun.
Piero Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 Thanks everybody... Yes, gas is gold here... that's why I can't drive my Chey everyday... but passion is stronger than economy ! So yes, if I put a lot of money in the tank, when I put the pedal to the metal and hear the magical sound of the V8... I forgot everything and enjoy ! I'll show you some pictures...
Junkman Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Hello there! I think MCM is becoming more international than most people realise. Also, US Cars and Hot Rods are more popular in France than most people realise. Have you checked out this forum: http://koolestkruzers.smileyforum.net/ Regarding the cost of petrol - whoever has to worry about it, is not in the market for a '70 Chevelle in the first place, no matter where he lives. - such cars are cherished collectors items in Europe, driven on special occasions, therefore racking up maybe 2-3000 miles a year, if that much. For such a low mileage, the cost of petrol is not that significant. If you have to drive 50k miles a year, you have a company turbodiesel.
Piero Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 Your totally right... Gas is very expensive, but pleasure doesn't got a price ! I've forgotten bad engines ( diesel ) a few years ago... Now I only drive gasoline cars, not cheap, but better ! I've also got a typical french car of the 70's, a Renault 4, but at my sauce... rat rod !
Piero Posted October 13, 2012 Author Posted October 13, 2012 Some pics of my cars... My '70 Chevelle : I wrote the story of that car and me here : http://oldamericanroads.blogspot.fr/p/lhistoire-de-ma-chevelle.html , sorry not in english... And that's my '82 R4 :
1930fordpickup Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Welcome ! The 70 is nice. The 82 R4 looks killer with the red wheels and wide whites.
george 53 Posted October 13, 2012 Posted October 13, 2012 Well Piero, you sure got the RIGHT mindset!!! Love BOTH the cars, even if I'nm not into rats. That Chevelle is kickin it bro!!! Welcme to the forum!
Piero Posted October 14, 2012 Author Posted October 14, 2012 Thanks... Actually, the R4 is for sale, if I want to get my new project, a 70's truck, I need to sell her...

57peppershaker Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Hi Pierre Great looking Chevelle (reserve judgement on the renault lol) SBC or BBC in it ? Running a SBC in the UK is not cheap either. But like yours, my 57 only comes out on sunny weekends.
Piero Posted November 7, 2012 Author Posted November 7, 2012 This is a 350ci... not enough money for a 454 ... Maybe in the future...
