Nick Winter Posted October 25, 2012 Posted October 25, 2012 (edited) I have loved this kit for quite a while, started this one a while back, nearly a year ago. Have a few more still waiting to be built. Next will be a '53 3600 like my grandpa owned when he had his far in St. George, Ontario. Anyway. Modifications: '68 Corvette Front sub frame, GM 12 bolt rear end with leaf springs and shocks, Converted cab to 3 window, scratchbuilt receiver hitch, modernized interior, added power brakes from '68 Corvette, used rad from vette and added '32 ford electric cooling fan, Used nascar Basic engine, added '66 Nova Weiand valve covers, parts box pulleys and Intake as well as carb and air cleaner, used AMT '90 C1500 Exhaust manifolds, Parts box open rallyes (thinking MPC '75 Vette), lots more I forget. Based on what I'd love to have ( my own shop and a '50 Chev for a shop truck), so I made everything to my taste, modern Suspension, drivetrain, and interior, Classic Body Styling. And no I wouldn't be too worried about how the body looks, just as long as it performed well. So in 1:1 I would do a IFS swap, yep there'd be a 355 CI Stroker under the hood (In scale it looks like a 355 in reality when stroked it's closer to 383 CI, but it's not seen in scale, differences are internal). One Day....................................... Nick Edited October 25, 2012 by Nick Winter

Nice in-progress shop truck. What are you going to do about the tree for the olds? It's going to come out really cool no matter what knowing your build quallity. Going to see if I can find a G Scale railroad tree or something for military diorama's, going to a IPMS show tomorrow. Great looking truck. I love the "Built not bought" sticker on the back. Bruce what can I say the stick is me. haha Nick
Kit Basher Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Great job on that pickup. You got the flavor just right. I had a relative with a tractor like that Olds, it took a chainsaw to finally move it. Nice work!
Nick Winter Posted October 30, 2012 Author Posted October 30, 2012 Thanks Guys. Was a pretty fun build. Nick
Dr. Cranky Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I like it, looks like you are having a ton of fun with your models and your photos. Keep the eye candy rolling.
Tom Geiger Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Very nice! I enjoyed the build posts and the end result is cool. I've build a couple of 50 Fords and 55 Chevy pickups but have yet to start a 50 Chevy! I need to do that.
Nick Winter Posted November 10, 2012 Author Posted November 10, 2012 it's a great kit to build (and hack up) Thanks. Nick
