1/24 Gunze Porsche 959 Rally

GunzePorsche959Rally.jpg

O Ya, a 4x4 And a Porsche..

I got this in the mail today.

Not has good has I had hoped it to be.

Doesn't even Compare to the Tamiya Paris-Dakar Rally cars.

It's Motorized. UUUGH!!!

I didn't see that coming.

O well, Live and learn..

Didn't Tamiya do a Porsche Rally car?

i don't remember Tamiya doing a 1/24 scale version of the car Rodney, but they did do either a 1/12 or 1/10 scale R/C version of it.

they do make a 1/24 scale version of the street 959 that i think you can still find pretty easy. probably take a huge amount of scratchbuilding and then the decals from the kit you've got.

Dave

Thanks Dave, No full detail ones, just curbside?

I was really hoping it was gonna be as good as these.

Picked up some stuff at the Goodguys Autumn get together in Pleasanton this past weekend. The Shelby was picked out by my girlfriend as her first model kit and she's getting going on that already and loving it! :P

I got the Chevelle mainly for the 454, only to find the details in this kit less than stellar, but it will do. I'll do something with the rest of the kit in the future sometime.

The wheel/ tire sets came from a diecast booth, 2 sets for $5. Couldn't pass it up, but they are pretty big for 1/25 scale. They would have to be 20"+. I might find a use for them though.

Right before visiting the model booth I fell in love with a '60 Starliner semi-custom and when I saw the kit I just had to have it. I'll do my own spin on it, but I'm using this as a guide. I'm thinking a dark red satin paint job.

off the bay...delivered yesterday....Polar Lights Ghost Charger sealed.

dunno whether to open it, or bury it in the backyard in a steel box to sell at a later date.....

going today 50 miles to a HobyLoby for paint and incidentals......film at 11.

I nabbed a couple more damaged AMT Prestige series kits from a local guy- two '65 Lincoln Continentals. Five bucks for both, when sealed pristine kits of same sell for around twenty! Both have crushed boxes, and one kit has a bent and broken windshield frame, but they're both complete.

I also got an extra Honda chopper (from the MPC Class Action Monte Carlo) from the same guy.

the street 959 from Tamiya is a full detail kit :P with some good reference pics and ALOT of scratchbuilding you could probably build the rally version which would be very cool!

the R/C version was actually a very cool "model" as well. it was 4 wheel drive and was pretty awesome to run. it did like to flip easy, hopefully not a trait of the 1:1 :D

Dave

Haven't worked much with R/C lately but

I am working on getting my hands on a Tamiya Porsche 959 1/24.

Unless ya got a spare one laying around

That Monza looks sweet...I have the '76 issue and the '80 issue (molded in yellow).

I picked up at the LHS the Dukes of Hazzard '78 Monaco yesterday. I built this kit as a kid when it was first released in the early '80s, later built the TJ Hooker version as a cop car and have a couple of the Joker Goon versions, unbuilt. I figure I'll do this latest reissue as a stock Monaco, w/ phantom R/T trim (Rally wheels, hood scoops, bucket seats, 440 6 pack).

I love the old MPC kits, warts and all.

Looked at the new RoG VW Samba kit at the LHS, looks sharp..may have to get that one eventually.

They say you can kit bash it with one of the couple Dakar kits. IIRC a large article on the subject.

I got off on another path with a couple stick and tissue planes.

Cool caskets! Where did you find them at? I have 2 of the original Jo-Han hearse caskets, and I've thought about getting someone to cast them for me.

I'm ALMOST positive those caskets were an auction on Ebay.

I just wanted to start what has been one of my favorite threads on airplane modeling forums. It’s not meant to brag or prove has the biggest modeling budget; I just like to see what other people are buying...

Today I got the ‘50 Ford p/u with the Ardun flathead I’v been lusting over, a Caddy 354 parts pack motor, and some HOK “Burple†candy paint
