Eric Stone Posted August 22, 2010 Posted August 22, 2010 Got this stuff at the HAMS contest yesterday... The Corvette was $5.00. I built one as a kid, and decided I'd like another. Odd thing, it has a big block Chevy with smallblock ram's head exhaust manifolds... Might do an engine swap. The Thunderbird came from Matt LeBlanc, in a trade. Thanks, Matt! The S-10 was $10, and I ended up getting both Impalas for $15.
Railfreak78 Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Wow you guys had an eventful weekend Nice hauls! I got the coffin kit from the Munsters double pack tin thanks to Mudpit602 (Toby) .
Kaleb Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Honestly I would trade them in a heart beat if I had the money to send them out, even the nascar I dont have near the parts to fix these cars up right now. Ill have to wait until I get "my money" lol

Railfreak78 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 Well I have a nice way of finding kits cheap and today was no different. I scored this one at a thrift store for under $5. It's missing the decals and instructions but I don't need them. I'm thinking of which car to make it. Time to look at some Slicks decals

slant6 Posted August 24, 2010 Posted August 24, 2010 (edited) I opened my mailbox today to find not only my first issue of Model Car Magazine (I love it, its like the forum, but I can bring it to the can with me), but also the airbrush that I didn't expect to see for at least another week, nothing special, just a cheap one to replace the one I broke while learning, but exciting nonetheless. Railfreak78 Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 I got a killer score on Craigslist today! Another bike which is the whole reason I wanted to make the trip. To my surprise a Jeff Burton car which I thought was a Hut Stricklin or Marlin car. I was planning to make it Burton And a USS Enterprise from Tamiya. All for the very expensive cost of $10
Mercman Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Found these the other day. 67 Chevelle, and a drag version of the Purple Passion. Also got a Snorkel fire truck, and a skid steer loader. These are darn close to 1/87th, and with a little detail painting they should be good background pieces.
Railfreak78 Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Well here is my score from my LHS today. This combined with last night I got all of these kits for $50 and the Harley has a started frame the rest are un-started so being its within 24 hours I'll make this an add on basically.
Mercman Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 Just returned from the LHS with this in hand. Cost was $34.95 plus tax. Upon first inspection this is a very nicely done kit. Round 2/Polar Lights has done a nice job on this one. There is no flash to be trimmed, the casting's are crisp, and the instructions are done well. Also a battery box, and LED light are included with it. The window graphics are printed on clear acetate, and it is molded in 2 shades of gray. Also tips on detailing the kit to set the scene are included. Don't forget though this one is 1/87th scale. Lots of possibilities for the display of this one. IMHO highly recommended kit to have. should be starting this one soon.
Rob Hall Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 A little white box of Modelhaus resto parts came today, w/ some parts for '60s-70s Johan kits.
dublin boy Posted August 28, 2010 Posted August 28, 2010 We don't get many US Revell kits in Dublin, but I had fun yesterday
High octane Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 I was able to pick up the new Revell/Model King '50 Austin Gasser kit today. I didn't see Monogram's Indy Racer or I would have bought that also. And of course like a lot of you, I'm waiting for the new Hemi Dart as well.
JamesW Posted August 29, 2010 Posted August 29, 2010 You really need to get a laptop, they're portable!!!! By the way, don't ask how I know this! I was thinking the EXACT same thing. LOL
