Danno Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 And when Camaro-style rear end treatments would start showing up ... Enter the 7-speed C7! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!
2000-cvpi Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I don't like it, the car zero style. I can't tell it apart from any other modern car. Where it's the chrome and tailfins? Back in my day cars had style, now they stink, blah blah grumpy set in my ways old man talk. Seriously that is really good looking, from the front at least. Not to sure about the Camaro taillights.
Scale-Master Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I'll be surprised if the real car ends up with the Camaro style taillights. It runs counter to the traditonal styling of Corvettes in the past. Since it is the flagship of Chevrolet, Corvette has been the one the designers use to estalish the newer designs within the line, not using older details from cars lower in the line. I'm wondering about that rear quarter window too. All said, it is a nice looking car as shown, but I'll wait to base my actual opinion on the real car when I see it, over an artists rendering.

I totally agree with the above. It looks fine but the Corvette is supposed to be the style leader or have a style of its own. It's not supposed to show you what you've already seen on the Camaro!
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 (edited) Actually, I like the nose better than the C6. Though I think it's a little busy, it does have a purposeful and aggressive look, but the hood vent is out of place and jarring. The tail, on the other hand does indeed look like warmed-over Camaro bits, with a bunch of pointless, conflicting lines and folds going every which way, and the function-free vestigial exhaust cutouts on either side of the actual exhaust cutout need to either go away, or get opened up into a real diffuser. Harry P. Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Front end looks good, but they need to extend the hood cutout all the way to the front. Rear looks way too Camaro-ish.
2002p51 Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I'm actually glad there's no way I can afford one of those things. Meh. 1962 was the last time GM made a good looking Corvette! I'm just sayin'.
Harry P. Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 1962 was the last time GM made a good looking Corvette! I'm just sayin'. 1968.
BKcustoms Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 The front looks good, almost Ferrari like, but the rear looks like a Camaro with a really oversized body kit.
Danno Posted December 11, 2012 Author Posted December 11, 2012 I'm in agreement that the rear kinda looks like all that's left of a Camaro that was swallowed up by a larger fish. I would have done something different. I'm not sure about the roof ... the jury's out so far. Haven't made up my mind. Very Fiero-ish ~ but that's not necessarily a bad thing. All the folds and slots and cuts are reminiscent of the Corvette Concept car that was featured in the Transformers movie. It's a "current trend" styling thing. Sorta like all those "high-end" foreign cars running around with the oddball shapes formed out of K-Mart rope lights ... no sense, no style ... but it's "hot." PS: What does "meh" mean?
gerdog Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Also, look at the front grill opening on a 2002 camaro and compare to this pic. There is more camaro than 'vette! "Me not likey".

Chuck Most Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Speaking of tradition, I wonder if this 'Vette will still have transverse leaf springs like the current car. Or a Model T. Or some stage coaches...
Ace-Garageguy Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Speaking of tradition, I wonder if this 'Vette will still have transverse leaf springs like the current car. Or a Model T. Or some stage coaches... It's a pretty exotic spring, one-piece, semi-self-damping composite, works great, weighs little and packages in a small space. And NOT part of the suspension geometry, like the early Cobras were.
george 53 Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Too Camaro-ish lookin from the front or rear. Looks like a 2000 or so Camaro from the front, too 2012 Camaro from the rear. I don't care for it. As was stated, it should be a style SETTER, NOT a copier.
Scale-Master Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 My guess is the transverse mono leaf suspension will stay in some form. It is a very good system. (I even updated my '73 Camaro with one from a C4. Huge improvement.) I also am willing to bet this is just another artist’s conception and not a reality of what the next Corvette will actually look like. I really doubt GM would float images like this that do not follow the logic of past designs, nor would they share what they are keeping under wraps before they want to unveil it (except for that accidental incident that allowed the front bumper to be prematurely shown to the public a few weeks ago), but they do serve to keep discussions about the future Corvette active, which is good for them.

I did not think the old viper could be improved upon but they did in my opinion.
Danno Posted December 11, 2012 Author Posted December 11, 2012 http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=meh Well, that explains that. Thanks, Harry. Not being a Simpsonsite, I had no idea. Guess I just live in an English-speaking world, rather than a world where language is invented randomly by anarchic cartoon creatures. Meh.

Austin T Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Just threw up in my mouth a little, I ll stick with a multiple classic cars I can buy for the base price of that "Thing".
martinfan5 Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 (edited) Just threw up in my mouth a little, I ll stick with a multiple classic cars I can buy for the base price of that "Thing". Some classic cars can and do cost more then the Vette will cost, unless you are talking about buying a classic that needs to be restored, then you can buy a few for the price of the Vette I am with most of you that dont like the Camaro rear end, I am not digging that either, but here is one thing some of you might be forgetting, This is just a rendering of what the new Vette will look like, this is not the production design ,Chevrolet will formally reveal the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013Chevrolet will formally reveal the 2014 Corvette prototype on Sunday, January 13, 2013 Or I could be completely wrong and it will have the Camaro Taillights I dont know GM, Chevy is going with the same grill and taillight design on a lot of the models, is it just a cost savings move?
