Dr. Cranky Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Wow, I love them all. What a great, well-executed diorama, Jim. It does belong in a museum. The lighting is a wonderful extra touch.
southpier Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 aside from the exquisite workmanship, the Hollywood Garage hits all the high points a diorama should have. Great Job!
Mercman Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 Jim How about "Memories".Another idea to throw your way would be to repaint the father in color, then add the grandpa figure you showed earlier in the main colors. Make it look like the dad's dad is looking on from beyond, and giving his approval. Just a thought for you to ponder.
GTMust Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 (edited) I've been following this since day one....... but made no comment, as pretty much everything has been already said. But now it's finished and I can sit back and enjoy it, I have only one word. Brilliant!!!!! But even that doesn't fully descibe how I feel about it. I'm in awe.The last few pictures really make it POP. Don't change a thing.Tony Edited January 31, 2013 by GTMust
Mooneyzs Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 This is such an awesome diorama. All of the cars look great in it but I have to agree with Brad that the '32 that is covered looks the best. I can't wait to see this at the Desert Scale Classic in April.
Chas SCR Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 Looks great Jim, can't wait to see it at the GSL!
Custom Mike Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 (edited) Jim, this is absoluteyl phenomenal work, I can't do work like this, but I really enjoy seeing a well done diorama! Take a bow, have a nice cold one, and enjoy, you've earned it with this work of art! Jim How about "Memories". Another idea to throw your way would be to repaint the father in color, then add the grandpa figure you showed earlier in the main colors. Make it look like the dad's dad is looking on from beyond, and giving his approval. Just a thought for you to ponder. I think Junior nailed it, that would really make this one hit the right note! crazyrichard Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 amazing ..................just amazingly cool this just looks perfect and the contrast from the car on all the whites is just great
outlaw035 Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 jim...everyone has said it all...just a true work of art...i think the pre-48 vehicles look the best in the dio...and of them the 32 is hands down the best of all of them... and the lights over the benches adds so much...take a bow my friend u earned it....
vaughn Posted February 5, 2013 Posted February 5, 2013 Outstanding work Jim !!! I like all the different sets and the lights added that extra touch !! Thats one good thing about a diroma like this. You can always change the foerground scenes. Great job !!!
Duntov Posted February 8, 2013 Posted February 8, 2013 Just about the time you think you are getting your act together as a model builder a REAL TRUE CRAFTSMAN like Jim shows up and gets it all back into perspective!!! Great job Jim..... you are a real artist / craftsman!!!! .... Thanks for sharing your fine work!!!! Regards Bill (Duntov)
Hollywood Jim Posted February 11, 2013 Author Posted February 11, 2013 Thank you all so much for your comments !! The name of this diorama will be Making Memories. (Thank you Mercman, Rich and Clayton !) Here is the final design. I have painted the Dad and added a little friend for the young boy. . . . .
Dr. Cranky Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Great build, great execution, and wonderful you've shared it with us from the start. It's threads like this one that make this forum so much fun. Thank you, Jim.
1320wayne Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Absolutely superb job Jim. The concept is perfect, the execution is awesome. This is the type od diorama that when you see it in person, at a show, and you look at it 20 different times and walk away only to come back again and again you will continuously find some new details that you missed during the last look. It tells a great story and only someone with your imagination could pull off such a task.
Mister Twister Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Absolutely beautiful.........It speaks for itself!
gasser59 Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Love how this turned out. Just curious, is everything glued in place or are they 'positioned'? BTW - you have a PM.
Randy D Posted February 12, 2013 Posted February 12, 2013 Hi Jim, A really cool concept that you executed to perfection!!!! I keep looking and I keep finding neat little details Congratulations!! Randy
Dominik Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Wow. i am speechless. The result is perfect!
landman Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 (edited) Made some rags. Kleenex and thinned out white glue. What do you thin the white glue with and what are the proportions? Edited February 7, 2016 by landman
