Scale-Master Posted September 10, 2014 Author Posted September 10, 2014 After a couple more hours of filing (than I expected), it is just about ready for paint… I see a couple spots in the picture that could use some minor attention.
Scale-Master Posted September 13, 2014 Author Posted September 13, 2014 After added the mounting lugs to the grille, I double-side taped it into the nose just to see how it looked… The lugs are drilled for screws or bolts.
superbike-shaun Posted September 13, 2014 Posted September 13, 2014 Mark, absolutely lovely!!!!!! you have an outstanding eye for the Smallest of details. totally BLOWN AWAY!!!! Shaun.s
Mooneyzs Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Mark... You are killing this build. I love what you did with the grille, it looks very nice. You are leaving no detail untouched. Keep up the great work.
sjordan2 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Hey, Mark. This may be the most epic project to appear on this forum, but the vast majority of your images on this thread have gone away. Can't you upgrade your image hosting account?
Scale-Master Posted September 14, 2014 Author Posted September 14, 2014 I started using two host accounts when I noticed the traffic the first one was getting. When those images go away, they will always return on the 20th of any given month.I noticed this month the bandwidth for that account was exceeded in barely a week.
Scale-Master Posted September 16, 2014 Author Posted September 16, 2014 I installed the carbs and intake manifold assembly to the head and temporarily bolted the engine into the frame so I could fine tune the fit of the carbs through the hood. As expected, some filing and reshaping of the hole was needed…
Deano Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Sooo ... how does she sound at idle? That is beautiful work, Mark.
Scale-Master Posted September 19, 2014 Author Posted September 19, 2014 (edited) Sounds a little like this:http://vid41.photobucket.com/albums/e272/Superb7/MOV01471.mp4Maybe a little less cam... Edited September 19, 2014 by Scale-Master
Scale-Master Posted September 20, 2014 Author Posted September 20, 2014 Don't know what to tell you Harry. It works when I click on the link from here, and I'm not even on the same computer I posted it with.
Pete J. Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Same here, but that sounds more like your corvette.
Scale-Master Posted September 20, 2014 Author Posted September 20, 2014 It's actually the older Camaro. The Corvette is a whisper compared to it.
Pete J. Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Ah, I should have picked up the blue color.
Scale-Master Posted October 2, 2014 Author Posted October 2, 2014 Finally I can answer the question (at least part of it) that I have been asked so many times over the last couple months. What color will it be? (The white is just the base undercoat.)
Harry P. Posted October 2, 2014 Posted October 2, 2014 Don't know what to tell you Harry. It works when I click on the link from here, and I'm not even on the same computer I posted it with. It works now. Weird.
Nacho Z Posted October 3, 2014 Posted October 3, 2014 So what do I notice first? That beautiful panel line in the first pic. Then in the second pic the panel is open. Precision!
Scale-Master Posted October 3, 2014 Author Posted October 3, 2014 Very kind of you to say John, thanks! Lower side panels are being painted. More test fitting before final coats of yellow are added to the rear body and cowl…
lanesteele240 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Well the paint is as flawless as the rest. And to think, Just a few years ago this was just a few hunks of styrene copper and resin. Way to go. I hope you get to wright a coffee table book on how you made it. It will sell one copy at least ? And one more wow for the wow pile Thanks for sharing this with us
Scale-Master Posted October 6, 2014 Author Posted October 6, 2014 Thanks a lot Gary. The side panels have the base color coat done. Still need to clear coat them before adding the mounting hardware, (that I also still need to make…).
Scale-Master Posted October 9, 2014 Author Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) I color sanded the earlier paint and shot the final coats of yellow last night. I’m much happier with the finish now. Also shot the matte clear on the lower side panels and added the mounting hardware. Edited October 9, 2014 by Scale-Master
Scale-Master Posted October 10, 2014 Author Posted October 10, 2014 I installed the sway bar and the stabilizer links including the bushings, washers and lock nuts.
