Ron35369 Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Another of my older builds, this is the AMT 51 Chevy Bel Air hardtop. I used the same corduroy upholstery as I did on my 50 Ford convertible. Aftermarket wheels & two-tone paint with a small block for power. Hope you enjoy. And I think Harry mentioned something recently about no one adding valve stems to their wheels...the photo is a bit blurry but I think you can see my valve stem in that shot.
Dirty Gringo Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 I like the color combo alot very nice and clean build
IMPALA SS 427 Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Hey that looks sweet, I like the idea of using corduroy as upholstery it looks very nice. Now I need to find a build I can use that idea on... Very sharp looking chevy, nice engine detail and a smooth finish.
my80malibu Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 I especially like the two tone paint. The whole Car is really cool too excellent detail, and a good choice of wheels.
Sixties Sam Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Very nice Chevy! The two tone paint is great, and I like the upholstery! Sam
Grumpa Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Another nice one! Where did you get the wheels from? They look great on this '51!
lotno249 Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 Yamm-hamma that is nice. Love the interior. Great paint job. Great model. DJ
RatRod Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 I think you just might be the original inventor of "Pro-Touring"!!! Nice build.
surfjunke Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 Beautiful Chevy! Very nice clean build. Great job on the interior.
rustybill1960 Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 This is a Beauty Ron!! I really like what You did with it!! How difficult is working with the corduroy? Thank You for sharing Later Russ
uncle potts Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 I love the color! The ride hieght and stance are spot on. However, something didn't look right. So I googled 51 chevy hardtpop pics, and there it was. It's missing the verticle chrome trim found on the rear window. A problem with the kit I'm sure. Still a very nice finished product, well done.
Tonioseven Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 The wheels areAoshima replicas of Ronal wheels that are long out of production. This build is BEAUTIFUL!!!
carrucha Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Nice build. Good work on using the corduroy. Where did you source the small block chevy?
Ace-Garageguy Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 This one ranks high on my list of favorite builds of this particular kit. Very unusual and nicely done.
Rob McKee Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Awesome build of the 51 Chevy! The interior work is very nice. I'd like to know more on how you work with the corduroy as well.
