A long time ago I made a 2dr Handyman wagon from a 55 Chevy Nomad. I used the rear wheelwells and partial sedan roof from the 55 Belair sedan. Iwas never really happy with the ay it came out so today after seeing a foto of a 57 shortehed, I decided to do a little body work. Glues and joints are hardening now and some filling and sanding and priming for tomorrow. And yes i am going to see if I like it as a sedan delivery! hehe!

Hey Dave . I was just looking at this over on Coffin Corner and I really like the shortened body ! Also changing the wheel opening makes a big difference in it's appearance . Should be a great looking build .

I don't like those shorty's as a rule, but I've gotta admit that your idea and inspiration is pretty cool! I can just imagine that flat black 57 coming off the line. Great!!

Here's a little preview of what it's going to be like, today after brunch I'll proceed with the bodywork. This is a chassis for another project but I will make another of the same. (Nova AWB chassis)

Really sweet Dave. Hope you can finish this one off! I agree the wheel opening change is a plus.

The last photo I posted of 55 my shorty was Photoshopped to show you how I hoped it would come out after body work. It had to fill seams on the sides and a seam on the roof. Also the contours of the roofs from the two diff. cars did not match so I had to build it up and shape it to fit. As with all my models that require filling I use plastic and liquid cement to fill the gaps and then the final finishing only needs minimal putty. I also use scratch filling sandable duplicolor primer. Any votes for a color? I'm thinking gold, yellow, root beer or silver blue.

Looks like you made the roof issue go away! I had the same problem when I turned the Dodge van into a pickup. The cab and the back end roofs were at totally different heights.

Rootbeer with a gold roof might look good, no ?

X2!!

Thinking Rootbeer with Champagne Gold roof.
