martinfan5 Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 '84 GMC "Fall Guy" longbed conversion for the MPC kit from Scale Production: It would be nice to be able to get on one of these
1930fordpickup Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Does Ron have a website to check out what stuff he has?... His wife had some cabs left in Toledo last fall. They were just the cabs nothing else to go with them.
Casey Posted March 13, 2013 Author Posted March 13, 2013 We should mention rocketfin.com's 'site, too, which still lists and shows a bunch of OOP resin cast items: http://www.rocketfin.com/resin-model-cars-trucks.cfm
Casey Posted March 17, 2013 Author Posted March 17, 2013 What happened to Mad Dog Resin? I don't know, but rocketfin has some pics of some of Mad Dog Models' offerings.
Tom Geiger Posted March 18, 2013 Posted March 18, 2013 What happened to Mad Dog Resin? The owner died some time ago.
Casey Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 I don't recall anything about Scale Technologies, but they had some machined aluminum brake rotors and resin calipers: I think Curbside Dioramics was part of R&D Unique?:
Casey Posted March 24, 2013 Author Posted March 24, 2013 Some more Ron Cash items: '53 Ford convertible with a Carson top: 49/50 Merc with Carson top:
Crazy Ed Posted March 24, 2013 Posted March 24, 2013 I think Curbside Dioramics was part of R&D Unique?: Yep
BenDover78 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 '84 GMC "Fall Guy" longbed conversion for the MPC kit from Scale Production: You have absolutely no idea how bad I've been wanting one of these.
Tom Geiger Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 You have absolutely no idea how bad I've been wanting one of these. Well start building then... I have a truck I'd like to build myself. I keep procrastinating hoping someone will do the conversion and sell it as a resin. Of course that will only happen once I do the work.
Drago Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 (edited) 1/24 Resin kit from Museum Collection of Mercedes Benz Transporter, AKA "Blue Wonder" Edited May 26, 2013 by Drago
Austin T Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 Man that Mercedes is just awesome. I imagine that it's hard to find and cost a couple of limbs.
LongRoofNut Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I thought it might be a good idea to post and list some long out of production resin casting businesses and/or their products for future reference, as there were many interesting and unique items produced which may never again see the light of day, save for the secondary market. Let's start with Pinecrest Resin's Ford offerings: Man would I love to get my hands on the '87 to '91 single cab!
Casey Posted October 26, 2013 Author Posted October 26, 2013 CCR Resin...ever heard of them or have more info on the company?
Tom Geiger Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 CCR Resin...ever heard of them or have more info on the company? Creedence Clearwater Revival? When the band broke up they tried to do resin parts. That kinda tanked too.
Thatswhatshesaid Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 (edited) What happened to Clint Freeman Components!? He got tired of having his stuff repopped so he closed up shop in 2005. I have a bunch of his stuff, it was top notch. CFC came after R & C trucking. Clint was the 'C' in that operation. A couple of the R & C engines and maybe a couple other things carried over to the CFC line. Occassionally his stuff shows up on ebay and goes for a lot. I remember a couple of his Cat engines going for about $170 each last year. Edited October 26, 2013 by Thatswhatshesaid
Mike Kucaba Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I saw this thread before and had a comment about it, but kept my trap shut. I guess I'll open it now. So how would someone who had the equipment, knowledge, capital AND several desirable resin kits be treated if they were copied and made available?
Kris Morgan Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 I saw this thread before and had a comment about it, but kept my trap shut. I guess I'll open it now. So how would someone who had the equipment, knowledge, capital AND several desirable resin kits be treated if they were copied and made available? That would depend on weather the original caster was still in business. I have a former AAM kit in my catalog (with permission). So do several other casters. Now, if one was to copy somebodies stuff that is still in operation,,,,,,,,,, you my be frowned upon.
disabled modeler Posted October 26, 2013 Posted October 26, 2013 You have absolutely no idea how bad I've been wanting one of these. I need to find one of those long beds and Chevy grille to build a replica of our truck a 84 Chevy 4x4 1/2 ton long bed.
